Symptoms:
1) The leaf canopy becomes smaller as the disease progresses
due to the development of smaller leaves and stunting of the
plant.

2) The disease is characterized by mosaic symptoms on the
leaves with blister like patches of dark green tissue distributed
all over the yellowish green lamina.

3) Leaf becomes deform and discolour, sometimes modified like
tendril.

4) Number of lobes increase and older leaf falls down.

5) Fruits of infected plant become small in size, deform and mosaic
spot sometimes appears on fruit.

6) Circular water soaked lesions with a central solid spot are
develop on the fruits of infected plants.

Control measure:
1) Plantation of disease resistant variety e.g., Carica cauliflora.
2) Uprooting and burning of the infected plant.
3) Precaution should be taken to control mechanical transmission
and controlling of insect vectors.
4) To control vector malathion or sumithion @ 0.06% solution can
be used 10 days interval.

Symptoms:
1) Water soaked lesions appear in the collar region on the stem,
which increase and surround the stem.

Symptoms:
1) Infected tissue becomes deep brown or black and finally rotten.
Often, the white cottony growth of the fungus is visible.

3) Leaves become yellow, wilted and fall down, if bears fruit those
also fall down.

Favourable conditions:
1) Hot and humid weather.
2) Water stagnant condition.
Control measures:
3) Papaya should be planted in the dry land and the land should be
well drained.
4) In the initial stage of disease, antiseptic sepnil (0.1%) should be
applied in the infected area with cotton and cloth.
5) In severe infection infected plants should be uprooted and
removed.
6) To control damping off, 0.1% sepnil solution should be applied
around the seedling.
