Latar Belakang
On various occasions when looking at a map of an area or
place, we must have found something called a scale. Scale is
one of the materials in learning mathematics that focuses on
finding a comparison between the distance on a map or
image and the actual distance. This means that every 1 unit
on the map (image) represents 1 unit in the actual situation.
Definition of Scale
Scale is a comparison of the distance on the image
with the actual distance. The use of scale formulas is
generally used in drawing maps or plans so that they
can represent the actual conditions of an area. The
scale on a map or globe is a comparison or ratio
between the distance on the map and the actual
distance on the earth's surface with the same units.
The scale on a globe or map will always show a
reduction.
The scale factor is divided into two, namely:

Magnification factor, if the scale factor is k or

k : 1 with k > 1

Reduction factor, if the scale factor is k or

1 : k with 0 < k < 1
Scale and Comparison
Comparison is used to determine the scale. The
comparison between the size in the image

the actual size can be determineddolor

the fraction. The formula for calculating the ratio
is: adipiscing elit,

scale = Size scale on the picture: actual size
eiusmod.
Example:
The distance between city S and city M is 150 km, while the distance on
the map is 25 cm. So, what is the scale of the map?
scale = Size scale on the picture: actual size
scale = 25cm : 150 km
scale = 25 cm : 15.000.000 cm
scale = 1: 600.000
So, the map scale is 1 : 600,000. This means that every 1 cm distance on
the map represents 600,000 cm = 6 km in actual conditions.
image scale
The image scale is the comparison between the size of the image and
the actual size. So to read the image scale must be understood first
before you know how to calculate the image scale. So there are two
scales, namely the reduction scale and the enlargement scale.
the formula for calculating the image scale is=

example
Drawing the width of a road with a size of 1 m
with a scale of 1:20. A scale of 1:20 means that
every 1 cm in the image will represent the size
of 20 cm of the actual object. So a road with a
width of 1 m = 100 cm, then the image with a
scale of 1: 20 so that the distance of the image
is = 5. This means that we can draw the width
of the road with a distance of 5 cm.
