Congruent

If two figures can be placed

precisely over each other,
they are said to be
'congruent' figures. If you
place one slice of bread over
the other, you will find that
both the slices are of equal
shape and size. The term
“congruent” means exactly
equal shape and size.
Example of
similarity
These are some
examples of similar

If u fold them they
will perfectly fit on
each other so its
congruent
Are they similar
or congruent
?

They are similar

To find the area of two similar shapes
we can use the knowledge that the
ratio of their areas is equal to the ratio
of the square of their respective sides.

Volume
• To find volume we use the formula
• V1/v2=l1/l2^2
