manufacturers of 3D printers from Czech
Republic). First of its kind in Eastern India

3D Bioprinter installed in “Polymer

Lab” at JISIASR Kolkata (Customized by
NBIL, Bengaluru, India)
FUTURE DIRECTIONS

1. A strategy needs to be developed to reduce greenhouse gas emission, i.e., atmospheric CO 2,

thereby reducing the environmental pollution and Global warming by water based carbonation
technique (aqueous based CO2 sequestration) utilizing wastes from steel, cement and ceramic
industries, geo-minerals, and waste clays, etc.
2. Utilization of polymer and mineral wastes in the value added construction products and their
sustainable disposal and management techniques.
3. Hydrogen-rich (H2) water is proposed to be used as a greener cement admixture for early repair
of buildings, bridges, tunnels, etc.
4. With the aim to develop sustainable materials, natural fibers reinforced Low C Geo-polymer
composite utilizing jute fibers and mineral wastes.
5. Finally, a smart and self-healing cement concrete will be developed by biochemical approach
utilizing natural cellulosic component and waste hair proteins as hybrid bio-chemical precursors.
6. A centre of excellence to be established at JISIASR for Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing
technology (Industrial tie-up has been initiated, MoU to be followed).
7. Advanced research laboratory on paints and coating to meet the huge demands from paint
industries in Eastern India (Berger paint, Shalimar paint, etc.). Short-term and long -term training
program for skill improvement of aspirants to meet the demand of job market in this sector
FUTURE DIRECTIONS

8. Centre of Excellence for Research in Renewable Energy (in the area of Solar
cell, novel Design of solar power plant, self cleaning of solar module, novel
module design for reduction of global warming, Bifacial solar cell/panel etc.). R&D
will be in association of leading Industries of this area. MoU with the industries.
9. Advanced research centre on Sensor and device fabrication (including bio-
sensor), instrumentation, product development.
10. Procurement of sophisticated instruments for materials fabrication and
characterizations
11. Exploring the therapeutic efficacy of herbal (Unani) drugs as promising
alternative to conventional regimens.
12. Development of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines against visceral
leishmaniasis (kala-azar).
13. Creating an array of functional nanoforms that may have implications in
designing nanomedicines against visceral leishmaniasis.
