Adalah Karang gigi atau dental calculus adalah
deposit plak atau sisa makanan yang
mengandung mikroorganisme/bakteri yang
menempel pada gigi dalam jangka waktu lama
yang mengalami pengerasan/terkalsifikasi

KLASIFIKASI KARANG GIGI

karang gigi dibagi menjadi 2 macam yaitu


 Karang gigi supragingival terletak di atas gusi atau di permukaan gigi
yang tampak di rongga mulut, biasanya warnanya lebih terang, putih
kekuningan/konsistensinya seperti kapur.

 karang gigi subgingival terletak di bawah gusi/saku gusi atau di


permukaan akar gigi, biasanya warnanya lebih gelap , padat dan
keras.
