FRONT OF
In front of means in front of.
The front side is the side that faces the street. The back side is the
side that doesn't face the street.
If you're knocking on the back door, you're in back of the house (or
behind it).
If the library is on one side of the street and the post office
is on the other, the post office is across the street from the
library
For example if you say across from someone at a poker table it would mean the table was
the seperation.
To stand across from a store could mean the road is the separation or what stands between.
You can still be in front of something while being across from it.
Example sentences:
I was driving down the road. But I can't go anywhere because there's a deer in front of my
car.
I traveled across the ocean. When I reached Spain there was nothing but beautiful sand in
front of me.
