converting SAP ECC to S4

Hana System

Steps in Converting SAP ECC to S4 Hana

 1.Pre Preparation :
Data cleaning and archiving ,create the BPs related to the current customers and
suppliers, Sizing of Landscape.
 2. Installation : Once the Pre Preparation process completed then the S4 Hana Data System
will be installed in Development Server.
 3.Delta Configuration - Configuration changes in introduced within S/4HANA.
For Eg: Activating the Material Ledger etc.
 4. Data Migration – Transferring the data from SAP ECC to S4 Hana system.
Open PO’s, Contracts, Material Stock, Scheduling Agreement, Material Documents, All
Bill of Materials etc.
Key Focus areas in S4 Hana System Migration

 Procurement :
1.Classic MM-PUR Transactions replacements.
2.RFQ simplified transactions.
3.Vendor & Customers are converted into Business Partners
4.Simplified Pricing Data Model
5.Material Ledger Activating in S4 Hana.
6.Business Functions Activations or Deactivation.

 Data Migration Cockpit

S/4 HANA Migration Cockpit is used for mapping the migration object, e.g. Migration of
Material Master
LTMC - Legacy Transfer Migration Cockpit
LTMOM - Legacy Transfer Migration Object Modeler - helps us make additional
customization fields within the source structure
The cockpit supports both manual data entry and data upload from Excel or XML files.

 SAP LT (Landscape Transformation)

Replication Server: SAP LT Replication Server enables real-time data replication and
synchronization between source systems and SAP S/4HANA. It captures changes made in the
source system and transfers them to the target system, ensuring data consistency during the
migration process.
Architecture of SAP SLT server with SAP
as source System:
 DB triggers: That records for any events ( Insert , Delete , Modify , update etc ) that take
place in Table( Application table ). DB triggers will be created on Source system.
 Logging Tables: If DB triggers, then logging tables will stores triggered data, which is
modified data in Application table. Logging tables will be created on Source System
 Read Engine: Read engine will be responsible for reading the data from logging table
and passing to SAP SLT Replication server.
 Mapping and Transformation Engine: This will be responsible for structured
transformation of data as per target HANA DB format.
 Pros/Cons of this approach:
1. Pro – no software dependencies.
2. Pro – flexibility
3. Con – investment and maintenance effort for separate server / SAP NetWeaver instance

 SAP Data Services: SAP Data Services is a data integration and transformation tool that
allows you to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into SAP
S/4HANA. It provides a graphical interface for mapping and transforming data, and
supports both batch and real-time data integration.

 SAP Rapid Data Migration :

SAP Rapid Data Migration is a data transfer application that is specifically designed for
full data migration to the SAP S/4HANA ERP Business Suite
• Profile the data and extract it from the source system.
• Map whatever information you’ve found to the target data structure.
• Assess and validate the data against whatever target business context you are using.
• Load the information into the target SAP system.
• Reconcile it between the source system and the target SAP system.
• Repeat the whole process iteratively until whatever information you have is ready.

 SAP Batch Data Conversion (BDC)

This is another method of data migration in SAP, in which data is
transferred using the batch input program and can be executed using a call
transaction method or a session method
 Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW): Although primarily used for data
migration in legacy SAP systems, LSMW can still be used for basic data migration tasks
in SAP S/4HANA. It allows you to define data migration objects, map fields between
legacy and target systems, and execute batch data uploads.
 Conclusion:
Therefore, for data migration in a SAP S/4HANA couple of imperative
focuses should be considered. The usage of these tools makes the data
migration process more comfortable. These tools are considered as a
ready to use solutions which saves a lot of time for data migration.
