 A BRIEF HISTORY In the Academic year 1951, the Higher Polytechnic
OF THE POLYTECHNIC Institute (HPI) was established in Albania. This date
marks the beginning of Higher Education in Albania. At
UNIVERSITY OF that period, three Directions were involved: Civil,
TIRANA Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Other faculties
were set up in Albania, and in 1957 they all founded
the State University of Tirana.

In 1991 all the Engineering Faculties were

regrouped and the Polytechnic University of Tirana
was founded.

In 2007, as a result of the reform initiated by the

Albanian government for the reformation of the
scientific research in Albania, the structure of
Polytechnic University of Tirana changed, and in 2013
the newest faculty was opened: Faculty of
Architecture and Urbanism.
The most important achievements in the field of engineering
and architecture in our country hold the seal of the architects
and engineers graduated from the Polytechnic University of
Tirana.

The Polytechnic University of Tirana is ambitious to provide

high standards in the education of the future architects and
engineers.

In the frame of inter-institutional agreements, the PUT has entered
agreements of mutual interest with more than 60 partner universities.
Starting from 2020 to the present, there have been 238 mobilities of outgoing
students, 66 incoming students and 172 mobilities of staff outgoing, 96
incoming.
