Sensor Elements
Sensing Element consist of a pair of
parallel sensor tubes
Electronic Amplifier
Stainless Steel
Union
Sensing Elements
• Drive coil excited with an electric current
• This causes sensor tubes to oscillate
• Electronic amplifier amplifies the pick-up coil voltage signal and adjusts
phase and gain to produce a current thru’ the drive coil
• This current maintains the sensor tubes at their natural resonance
• Time period of the resonance is proportional to the total mass of the
tubes (a constant) plus the process fluid inside
• Changes in density of the process fluid will change the mass of the
tubes plus fluid, as well as the resonant frequency.
Horizontal
If density meter required to be mounted horizontally, the flow
must be 5 L/min to avoid trapped gas bubbles causing
unsteady density measurements.
Pressure
To maintain full line pressure in the sensor, flow
restrictors, flow control valves or pressure
control valves should be fitted downstream of
the density meter. For this will prevent formation
of gas bubbles due to pressure drop occurring
upstream of the instrument

All instruments use same calibration method but use different specs.
BaseBoard
- Apply power to the instrument & check the time period of the output signal
agrees with the “ Air Check” figure shown in the calibration certificate, to
within the acceptable limits ( e.g 6 ns or 500 ns for the E.G units)
e) Standard Units
Check 100 ohm PRT terminal at 11~12 ( ensure 3 & 6 are disconnected)
Mechanical Servicing
- Comprises of keeping the inner surface of the vibrating tube clean of
deposition & corrosion
- Deposition must be removed using suitable solvent.
Demo or demonstration
mode allows user to
explore the display
menu structure without a
transducer attached
* Once Power up, the remote display undergoes a sequence of self checks. Else it will produce
the screen shown on above which indicates that communication between transducer & display has
not established
* Access the menu structure obtained by pressing any of the keys either
side of the display showing as above
