The constant movements of the body when one dances allows stretching or extension
of the muscles of the body, thus, making them more flexible.
Dancing also strengthens the core muscles to balance the body. Regular and
consistent dance workouts boost the body's coordination and reflexes.
INTRODUCTION
Good dancers must have certain levels of fitness in both the health-related fitness
components and skill- related parameters of fitness.
One component of physical fitness in which dancers must have high scores is the
flexibility test or the modified sit and reach.
WHAT IS FOLKDANCE?
They are traditional dances that embody the history and culture of a
group of people.
Folk dances also showcase other arts like the design of the costumes and the
props and the music created to match the rhythm of the dance steps.

Both arms are at the side and elbows are bent at the right
angles while the forearms are parallel to the head.

WHAT IS AN EXAMPLE OF A FOLKDANCE?
TINIKLING
Originated in Leyte, one of the islands in the Visayas.
The word “tinikling” came from the long-legged bird, called “tikling”
The movement of the dancers imitate the walking movements of the tikling birds as they
step on grass and tree branches and as they try to avoid the bamboo traps set by the
farmers.

TINIKLING
In the dance, two bamboo players sit facing each other on the ground.
Both are holding the ends of the bamboo poles, which is about nine feet
long each.
The dancers performs along the sides and between two bamboo poles.
