• fact (n) /fækt/ : a thing that is known to be true,
especially when it can be proved
• past (n) /pæst/ : the time that has gone by; things that
happened in an earlier time
• practise (v) /ˈpræktɪs/ : to do an activity or train regularly so
that you can improve your skill
• instrument (n) : an object used for producing musical
/ˈɪnstrəmənt/ sounds, for example a piano or a drum
• tune (n) /tuːn/ : a series of musical notes that are sung
or played in a particular order to form a
piece of music

PRONUNCIATION OF S
The pronunciation of words ending in S depends
on the final consonant (sound). There are three
ways to pronounce the S:
