What is Handicrafts?
Things that are made with mini machines or
HAND BY HAND but on a large scale aren't
considered handicrafts. Instead, items made
by artisans like pottery, handwoven
blankets, handmade jewelry, and quilts
stitched by hand are all examples of
handicrafts. It’s any of a wide variety of types
of work where useful and decorative objects are
made completely by hand or by using only
simple tools or by hand.
What is the handicrafts here in Philiphines?

Wood carvings, weavings and pottery

Today, travelers will find brilliant weaves,


intricate beadwork, silver tribal jewelry,
rustic wood figurines and dishes, ceramic
pots, jewel-colored capiz shell chandeliers,
earthy pandan leaf mats and coasters,
rattan basketry, and shiny brassware.

Handicrafts, Which is bayong and banga.

Where is the Bayong Basket made?

A bayong is a kind of bag originating


in the Philippines and made by
weaving dried leaves. The leaves used
for making the bayong vary but the
traditional bayong is made from buri
leaves in the Visayas and pandan
leaves in Luzon.
Where is the banga made?

originated by the northern Cordillera


region of the Philippines.
Traditionally, they're made of local
clay found only in the Kalinga
villages, an area rich with rice terraces
and lush mountainsides.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BAYONG
BASKET AND BANGA?

The Purpose or importance of what we made


just like bayong basket and banga is that it
shows how rich our natural resources are in our
country, and our natives can also make money
from it, just like the bayong basket, it can be
part of a person's fashion.

• Also a traditional bag originated from the
Philippines made by weavering dried
leaves that is usually from a native tree
from our country called, Buri Palm.

made to represent the Filipino culture to
tourists.

BANGA

This is an earthen container originated


by the northern Cordillera region of the
Philippines. Traditionally, they're
made of local clay found only in the
Kalinga villages, an area rich with rice
terraces and lush mountainsides.

Baskets are made for a variety of
purposes, including food gathering and
storage, furnishings, garments and
ceremonial uses.

This is an example of the bayong bag
that we have, it is from my
grandmother, and she got it from
apayao kalinga here in our country,
and this cost 1,599php she bought it
before the pandemic, I saw that it
was actually made they have a
mixture of sophistication and are
really strong

This is also one of the things that we
have and it is called "abaca bag" which
is also from our own country, it is from
Catanduanes that my mom bought
when we were on vacation during holy
week, and it cost 2,599php, which for
me is worth it, because of the beauty
and strongliness of abaca, and it even
represents the culture of the Filipinos.
