INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS PILE FOUNDATION ?

A Pile foundation, a kind of deep foundation, can be defined as a slender column or long cylinder made of materials such as concrete
or steel which are used to support the structure and transfer the load at desired depth either by end bearing or skin friction.

IS-456 concrete

IS 456-2000 Plain and Reinforced Concrete - Code of Practice is an Indian

Standard code of practice for general structural use of plain and reinforced
concrete. The latest revision of this standard was done in year 2000, and

reaffirmed 2021. This code uses the limit state design approach as well as
.
the wo rking stress design approach. However the Code recommends use
of the limit state design approach.[1] It is written for use in India. It gives
extensive information on the various aspects of concrete.

IS- STEEL

IS 800 is the basic Code for general construction in steel structures and is
the prime document for any structural design and has influence on many
other codes governing the design of other special steel structures, such as
towers, bridges, silos, chimneys, etc.
: IS-10262 MIXED DESIGN

CONCRETE MIX DESIGN IS THE PROCESS OF SELECTING SUITABLE INGREDIENTS OF

CONCRETE AND DETERMINING THEIR RELATIVE AMOUNTS WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF
PRODUCING A CONCRETE OF THE REQUIRED WORKABILITY, STRENGTH AND DURABILITY
AS ECONOMICALLY AS POSSIBLE.

: CONCRETE MIX DESIGNCALCULATE CEMENT, SAND AND AGGREGATE QUANTITY IN

CONCRETE. CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF PREMIX BAGS REQUIRED FOR YOUR
PROJECT.OPTION TO SET YOUR OWN SIZE AND RATE OF PREMIX BAGS.CALCULATE THE
VOLUME OF CONCRETE REQUIRED FOR SLABS, WALLS, FOOTINGS AND COLUMNS.

M40 GRADE STANDS FOR IT’S A MIX OF CONCRETE WITH A CHARACTERISTIC
COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 40 N/MM2. THE MIX DESIGN PROCEDURE FOR M40 GRADE
CONCRETE AS PER ACI METHOD IS DISCUSSED.

PILE CAP

A PILE CAP IS A THICK CONCRETE MAT THAT RESTS ON CONCRETE OR TIMBER PILES THAT
HAVE BEEN DRIVEN INTO SOFT OR UNSTABLE GROUND TO PROVIDE A SUITABLE STABLE
FOUNDATION. IT USUALLY FORMS PART OF THE DEEP FOUNDATION OF A BUILDING,
TYPICALLY A MULTI-STORY BUILDING, STRUCTURE OR SUPPORT BASE FOR HEAVY
EQUIPMENT, OR OF A BRIDGE. THE CAST CONCRETE PILE CAP DISTRIBUTES THE LOAD OF
THE BUILDING INTO THE PILES. A SIMILAR STRUCTURE TO A PILE CAP IS A "RAFT", WHICH
IS A CONCRETE FOUNDATION FLOOR RESTING DIRECTLY ONTO SOFT SOIL WHICH MAY BE
LIABLE TO SUBSIDENCE

REINFORCEMENT 25MM

REINFORCING BAR, AKA REBAR IS USED TO HELP CONCRETE STAND TENSION FORCE,
ALTHOUGH THE CONCRETE IS STRONG ENOUGH BY NATURE TO WITHSTAND
COMPRESSION FORCE, IT CAN ALSO CRACK FROM LOAD BENDING TENSILE FORCE,
AND THEREFORE IT NEED HELP RESISTING THE TENSILE STRESS USING HIGH
TENSILE SUBSTANCE.
