INTRODUCTION
Sexual behavior plays an important role in reproductive
health.
It is a complex behavioral activities that include sexual
intercourse, masturbation, oral sex, and anal sex.
Each of these activities carries a different risk for
contracting a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or
becoming pregnant
Research has shown that teens and young adults are more
likely to engage in risky sexual behavior due to peer
pressure, lack of knowledge about STIs, and a desire to
explore their sexuality.
OBJECTIVES

To identify and analyze the biological, psychological, and

sociocultural aspects of sexual behavior and their impact
on reproductive health.

 To evaluate societal norms, health beliefs, and religious

values related to reproductive health.

To provide recommendations for nurses to advocate for

reproductive health and to promote healthy sexual
behavior.

pornography
According to World Health Organization (WHO),
sexual behavior is “any activity that involves the
introduction of bodily fluids, genital contact, or sexual
stimulation between consenting adults.” (WHO, 2018).

reproduction

Increase sexually transmitted diseases

Unwanted pregnacies

multiple sexual partners increases the risk of contracting

STIs

Regular check-ups can help identify any potential health

issues and enable individuals to take appropriate
measures to protect their reproductive health.
Theoretical Framework

by Nola PenderModel
(1982)

Looked at ways people can pursue better health.

It encourages health professionals to provide positive

resources to help patients achieve behavior specific
changes

The goal of the HPM is not just about helping patients

prevent illness through their behavior, but to look at
ways in which a person can pursue better health or ideal
health.
IMPLICATION TO NURSING
Nurses play a critical role in promoting positive sexual
behaviors and reproductive health

Nurses provide education and guidance for individuals

Nurses also advocate for access to comprehensive sexual

health care services

By working together with other healthcare professionals,

nurses can help ensure that all individuals have access to the
resources they need to make responsible decisions about
their sexual health.
CONCLUSION
Sexual behavior and reproductive health are inextricably linked.
Having access to comprehensive reproductive health care is essential
for individuals to make informed decisions about their sexual health
and relationships.

Understanding the risks associated with different sexual behaviors is

also important for promoting responsible sexual behaviors.

Ultimately, open communication, education, and access to health

care resources are key for promoting healthy sexual behaviors and
reproductive health.
