Inductance of composite Conductors

 Consider a single-phase line consisting of two composite


conductors x and y, each having n and m number of
identical strands or sub-conductors and each with radius
rx and ry , respectively as shown in Fig.

 The current is assumed to be equally divided amongst all


the strands (sub conductors). The current per strand is
(I/n, referenced into) in x and (-I/m, as returned) in y.

parallel conductors 1 m apart and 1 cm in diameter, when the material of conductor is
(i)copper and (ii)steel of relative permeability 50.
