Surveillance
( Digital EAS )
Chapter I. Basic Working Principle
• EAS sensor consists of two parts, TX
(Transmitter) and RX (Receiver).

• The basic working principle of EAS system:

transmitter radiates the sweep frequency signals
to the space, there will be a detecting-area
between TX and RX when a receiver is fixed
near to the transmitter, then the sensor system
can search the active label within the special
electromagnetic field based on the principle of
electromagnetic wave resonance. It will be alert
if any active labels exist in the detecting-area.

ALARMS
1.2.1 Character of EAS system
• EAS system can not only prevent the commodity from
being stolen, but also can meliorate relationship
between shoppers and stores. The ultimate character
of EAS system is endowing the commodity with the
ability of self-defense, the other characters of EAS are
as following:
1. High accuracy judging theft.
2. High protecting efficiency. Less people to supervise,
and better protecting effect.
3. High-tech protection for commodity instead of people
supervising, so shoppers can be respected, and
pleasant shopping atmosphere is created.
1.2.2 Economic value brought by
EAS
1. Decrease the loss caused by theft so
that increase profit directly for stores.
2. Decreased the labour cost of shop
assistant, so reduce business cost.
3. Increase sale, since shoppers are in the
pleasant shopping atmosphere without
suspicion.
4. Increase sale, since all commodity can
be sold in open-shelf way
1.3 The components of EAS
System
• Electronic Article Surveillance System
consists of sensor system (TX, RX and
special power supply for sensors),
Electronic labels (soft label and hard tag)
and deactivating instruments (Deactivator
and Detacher).
1.3.1 Sensor
The sensors, usually installed in the
passage or doorway of the store,
comprise one TX, one Rx, and one
power supply. There will be a
detecting-area (electromagnetic area)
between the TX and RX, which could
detect the commodity passing through
the sensors; and the system will alarm
when the unpaid commodity (with
active tags/labels) pass through the
detecting-area.
1.3.2 Electronic Labels
• In order to meet the needs of different commodity and
different detecting width, we produce several kinds of
electronic labels; we also can make customer-made
labels according to customers’ needs. The following
are different kinds of labels:
1. RF soft label: Used for only one time and can be stuck on the
surface of all nonmetallic commodity.
2. Hard tag: Used in repetition and can be attached to
clothes , bags and shoes.
3. CD 、 Cassette safer: Used in repetition, and suits for protecting
CD, VCD, DVD and tape, etc.
4. Bottle safer/Milk powder safer: Used in repetition, suit for
protecting all kinds of wine and milk powder.
5. Cigarette Safer: Used in repetition, designed for cigarette

1.3.3 Deactivating Instrument
(Deactivator/Detacher)
• Deactivator :
– Generate a deactivating-area
measuring 15cm high over
the deactivating pad, which
can invalidate the active
8.2MHz RF label when
commodity attached with
labels pass through the
deactivating-area over the
pad, thus fulfill non-contact
deactivating.
1.3.3 Deactivating Instrument
(Deactivator/Detacher)
• Detacher :
– It can detach the hard
tags from commodity
quickly, safely and
conveniently.
