Projection of Points: Engineering Graphics Lab
• From the observer's direction draw projectors perpendicular to the reference plane through the point.
• The intersection of the projectors with the reference planes are the projections of the point.
• The top views of the points A,B,C are to be represented with single primes as a’ ,b’, c’ ,.
• The front views of the same point A, , C are to be represented with double primes a”, b”, c”.
• mark the distances with reference to the reference lines xy and ex one by one if necessary.
Session 01: Projection of Points
1. Point A is 25 mm above the HP and 25 mm in front of VP. draw the projections of the point and state the quadrant in
which the point is situated.
2. Point B is 25 mm below the HP and 40 mm behind the VP draw its projections and state the quadrant in which the point
is placed.
3. A point Q is 15 mm above the HP and in the VP. Draw its projections and state the quadrant in which the point is situated.
4. A point Q is 30 mm in front of the VP and in the HP. Draw its projections and state the quadrant in which the point is
situated.
5. Draw the projections of the following points on the common XY line. Also state the quadrants in which they are located.
1. A point is 35 mm below HP, 20 mm behind VP and 25 mm from RPP. Draw its projections and name the side
view.
2. Draw all the 3 views of a point ‘P’ lying 60 mm below HP ,70 mm in front of VP and 40 mm from the RRP. Also
state the quadrant in which the point ‘P’ lies.
3. A point ‘A’ is 30 mm in front of VP ,20 mm above HP and 25 mm from LPP. Draw the projections and name the
side view.
4. Point P is on HP and 35 mm in front of VP. Another point Q is on VP and below HP .The line joining their front
views makes an angle of 30 degree to the XY line, while the line joining the top views makes an angle of 45
degree with the XY line. Find the distance of the point Q from HP.
5. 2 points R and S are on HP. the point R is 35 mm in front of VP, while S is 50 mm behind VP. The line joining the
top views makes an angle of 40 degree with XY line. Find the horizontal distance between the two projectors.
