•The Republic of Colombia is a relatively new nation, it has
less than 200 years of history as a republic and like the rest of the American continent, its origins as a state go back just a little more than five centuries. However, despite its short existence as a nation, there are several significant events that have occurred; In this section you will find information about the history of Colombia starting from pre-Columbian times to our times. •Geography: •The territory of the Republic of Colombia is located in the northwestern corner of South America and has a continental area of 1,141,748 km plus a maritime area of 928,660 km. Colombia is the 26th largest country in the world and the fourth in South America, after Brazil, Argentina and Peru. The country has sovereignty over the Caribbean Sea, the Pacific Ocean, the Amazon rainforest, the Orinoco basin, and the Andes. Colombia is administratively divided into departments, municipalities, indigenous territories, regions, and provinces. Important celebrations

American countries.

the Colombian Caribbean, originating in the Montes de María Subregion and the Sabanas del Bolívar Grande.
