Evaluate self-knowledge about moral life.
LEARNING ESSENTIALS

• Man and Virtue

Knowledge is born, ideals, moreover, may be a characteristic gift, not a

fake tradition or propensity of activity to be procured by education.

Virtue may, undoubtedly , be instructed, but this is often to be caught on

not as presenting something outside to the intellect but rather as only
arousing the seeds of great deeds that perhaps lie torpid within the
intellect and heart of man.
Since virtue is natural within the mind and self-knowledge is the
source of all wisdom, at that point the as it were way to secure
ethicalness is essentially to know what is within the intellect, within
the self.

Ideals at that point depended on information and can be

characterized as mourn information of one’s self. So, we reach the
popular Socratic saying:
’’ Knowledge is ethicalness : numbness is vice.’’ To Socrates,
genuine knowledge implies intelligence which in turn, implies virtue.
• Man and the Problem of Evil

Evil then, according to Socrates is the result of obliviousness,

the inverse of knowledge. Socates also clarifies, that the
incredible issue of evil: evil which is for the most part ethical
evil is due to ignorance or to the limitation and imperfection on
man’s show knowledge.
• The Ideal Man, the Perfect Man

In consonance with Plato’s hypothesis of Idealism, Plato

propounded the view that man, in his present earthly existence ,
is as it were and flawed duplicate of his genuine unique self,
the pefect man , within the domain of thoughts.

Man’s perfection comprises insteady memory and imitation of

his previous perfect self.
• Virtue

Virtue for Aristotle, doing the right thing to the right person
at the right time to the proper extent in the correct fashion and
for the right person –something of a tall order.

Values
Values are fundamental and basic beliefs which direct or
motivate attitudes or behavior.
Values also help us to find out what’s important to us. These
define the moral qualities that we want to uphold inorder to
direct our actions; the kind of person that we want to be ; how
we handle ourselves and others, and how we connect with the
world around us.
