INTRODUCTION

The return to natural healing, the use of organic medicines is the need of
our time now (Ladion, 1985). According to the World Health Organization (WHO)
80% of the people in throughout the world currently uses herbal medicine for
primary health care (Singh et al.,2014). We must rediscover the healing
remedies of our nature. Herbal plants have been used for centuries to cure all
sorts of ailments. Even though modern medicine has improved our lives
considerably, both modern medicine and alternative medicine still rely on the
age-old healing properties found in medicinal herbs.
Herbal medicines have been used throughout the beginning of human history and
played a pivotal role in the prevention and treatment of various diseases (Singh
et al.,2014). Researchers at the National Institute of Science and technology
(NIST),the Philippine Council for health Research and development(PCHRD), and
the University of the Philippines have proven the effectiveness of medicinal
plants(Ladion,1985).
Current Situation:
 The healthcare problems are growing rapidly day by day, the prices of
pharmaceutical drugs such as over the counter drugs and antibiotics are
getting high, it also have adverse side effects. Their availability is not always
assured. During this pandemic we have limited resources of our needs like medicines .Most of
us are on Quarantine and can’t go outside our houses . In addition, some Filipinos are not aware
or don’t have enough knowledge and concise information on how to properly use
certain herbal plant. We need practical or alternative ways to cure or alleviate our common
illness
What is our solution?

We decided to make an offline mobile application that can help promote the use
of herbal medicine instead of using generic drugs in the drugstore. The app will
also provide precautionary information on how to use the herbal medicine in a
proper way. This project proposal named Healing Wonders App is a great
application tool that will serve as the source of knowledge to know how to use
herbal medicines. The said mobile application will also have unique features like
overview of the disease, herbal medicines scientific name and description, and
diagnostic tool to determine what herbal medicines will be use based on the
selected illness.
What is our system?

 The HEALING WONDERS APP: An Offline Herbal Guide mobile for Ilonggos that
is intended to give a fact-checked definitions and directions on how to
properly use the available herbal medicines in the Philippines specifically in
the Region VI.
 The application’s objective is to deliver a concise information about the
herbal medicines including its treatment procedure on how to cure or
alleviate certain common ailment.
 This will also promote the use of herbal medicine instead of using generic
drugs in the drugstore. The app will also provide precautionary information
on how to use the herbal medicine in a proper way. This project proposal
named Healing Wonders App is a great application tool that will serve as the
source of knowledge to know how to use herbal medicines.
General Objectives:

 This study is aimed to develop and design an offline herbal diagnosis

application named Herbal Wonders App.
Specific Objectives of the Study:

 To develop and design an offline mobile application that can diagnose

searched illness.

 To provide accurate scientific name and description of the selected herbal

medicine.

 To provide accurate recommended herbal medicine based on the selected

common diseases.

 Evaluate system using 9126 ISO Standards.

Significance of the Study:

 The completion of this study would benefit the Ilonggos, Department of

Health, Department of Agriculture, the School and Researchers. The Users

will have an awareness on how to appropriately use the available herbal

medicines.
 Ilonggos. The mobile application can help them know the facts on how to use

herbal medicines and do diagnose from the selected illness correctly.

 Department of Health. The mobile application will be able to help them

promote the use herbal or alternative medicines to the Illonggos.

 Department of Health. The mobile application will be able to help them

promote the use herbal or alternative medicines to the Illonggos.

 Department of Agriculture. The mobile application will be able to help

them promote the description of herbal medicines and how to properly use

them.
 School. The mobile application will be able to help the students know the

general knowledge of how to use herbal medicines.

 Researchers. The mobile application will be able to help them broaden

their knowledge in knowing the information about herbal medicines and on how

to create a mobile application.

Scope and limitation of the Study:
This study is an offline mobile application which will provide the facts about the
use of herbal medicines and diagnosis feature for selected illness. This study
will be conducted on school year 2020-2021 at ISCOF Dingle Campus. This study
is only limited to the available herbal medicines in the Philippines and only
available offline. Thus, the application cannot cater foreign herbal medicines
and the application do not have the capacity to connect to the Internet. Also,
it cannot cater most complicated illnesses, only the common illnesses.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE:
Development Process

 The development of the Healing Wonders App needs to have a comprehensive

and well-detailed planning processes in order to achieve the success of
completing the said application. The researchers of this study will use the
Waterfall Model approach of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to
properly segregate the tasks to each researcher.
