HISTORY OF THE GAME
 The Cricket is first expected to be played in South East England during 16 th
century.
 The game expanded globally because of the British empire rule.
 The game is played between two teams each comprising of 11 players with
two umpires maintaining laws of game.
 The cricket’s governing body INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
COUNCIL(ICC) conducts and set fixtures of international match and
punishing cricketers for misbehaving , fixing etc. ICC was established in
1909 and its headquarters are located in Dubai.
 The first ever cricket club created is Marylebone cricket club in 1814 which
maintains laws of cricket and responsible for either formulating or making
new cricket laws.
 The game is primarily played between men’s international and women’s
international teams.
RULES OF THE GAME
The game is played on a rectangular surface called
Pitch which is 22 yards long. The 3 stumps are
Inserted on either side of pitch topped by two
Bails. The pitch is usually plotted on center of the ground.

The toss is counted between two captains before start


Of the play to either choose batting or bowling first.

To win a match, opponent has to either score one more


than other team or pick 10 wickets before the same score is reached.

Each match comprises of definite amount of overs to be played by each team. At present
there are 3 formats in cricket.
1. Test cricket: consists of 90 overs per day and it lasts till 5 days . Each side gets 2
innings to play
2. One day cricket: consists of 50 overs per side(earlier it was 60 overs)
3. T20 cricket: consists of 20 0vers per side and a super over if game’s tied.
CRICKET FIELD AND CLOTHING
 The game is played on a circular or oval
shaped field with its ends marked with rope
or a paint to indicate scoring areas.
The area off pitch is covered with green
grass and a 30 Yard circle is marked
with white paint outside Pitch.
CLOTHING:
The test cricket is played in whites as its unique
Identity and also because white reflects sunlight
and red ball is easily visible to players.
The t20 cricket and one day cricket is played in
Color clothing as its identity and also to create
Freshness in the game.
The logos of kit sponsors can also be implanted
But within certain defined dimensions.
CRICKET EQUIPMENTS
 A batsman wears equipment

such as helmet to protect his head, gloves to


Protect his hands, batting pads to protect legs,
Thigh pads , abdomen guard and shoes with
Spikes to increase fiction and control grip.
A wicket keeper put on inner gloves , wicket keeping gloves and wicket keeping
Pads with abdomen guard for protection.
A bowler usually doesn’t wear any protection gear expect a hair band or may be
a sweat band on his own comfort.

CRICKET BAT:
The journey of a cricket bat started with a stick
Similar to hockey stick . The batted went under
Several evolutions and finally a ideal cricket bat is
Evolved. At present, There are certain restrictions
on a Cricket Bat set such that the max. length
could only be 38 in and no more than 4.25 in widths.
CRICKET EQUIPMENT
CRICKET BALL:
The cricket ball is weighed from 155.9 g to
163g and circumference of 22.4 to 22.9cm.
If any of the above dimensions are violated
then the ball cannot can be used in an inter-
National match.
There are 3 different colored balls used namely red ball which is used
In test cricket , white ball which is used in one day or t20 match and pink
Ball which is the latest addition and is used in day/night test matches.
A equipment called ball gauge is used by umpires ton check if ball meets
The standard set by laws of cricket.
MULTI NATION EVENTS IN CRICKET
 THERE ARE VARIOUS EVENTS CONDUCTED BY ICC

BETWEEN VARIOUS TEAMS .


THE Events are ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP, T2O
WORLD CUP, CHAMPIONS TROPHY AND CHAMPIONS
TROPHY AND ICC TEST CHAMPIONSHIP which is the
Latest addition.

The ICC cricket world cup is played in every 4 years,


T20 world cup is played in every 2 years and champions
Trophy is also played in every 4 years.
A tournament called ASIA CUP is played between Asian
Teams governed by Asian cricket council.

The most cricket worlds are won by Australia which is 5,


Maximum t20 world cups are won by west indies .
INDIAN CRICKET HISTORY
 India played its first cricket match on 25 June 1932

At lord’s and became 6th test playing nation.

CK NAYUDU was first Indian team captain.


LALA AMARNATH scored first century for India.
KAPIL DEV scored first one day century for country.

INDIA won its first cricket world in 1983, first t20 world
Cup in 2007 and champions trophy independently in
2013.

ANIL KUMBLE became 2nd overall and first Indian to


Take 10 wickets in a single innings.
FUN FACTS IN INDIAN CRICKET
 Wills was first to sponsor cricket team in
1993 followed by ITC HOTELS, SAHARA INDIA,
STAR,OPPO and now BYJU’S .

 Women’s t20 cricket is included in
2022 commonwealth games.

By t20 world cup in 2022 and ICC 50 over
Cricket world in India in 2023.

The cricket is expected to be included in


2028 Olympic games in the form of t-10 matches.
