Marie Curie was a Polish and French scientist born in 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. She was the first woman to receive Nobel Prizes in both physics and chemistry. Curie discovered the radioactive elements polonium and radium through her research on uranium. She was also the first female professor at the University of Paris. Unfortunately, Curie died at age 66 in 1934 from aplastic anemia caused by prolonged exposure to radiation during her scientific work.
