What is Simple Present?

Simple present tense is a tense that used to


state the facts, habits, or events that happens
at this time.
For example :
• Ahmad is a student of UPB
• I always run every morning
• I Study English every day
The kinds of Simple Present

Simple Present is divided into two kinds :


1. Verbal (action)
(Using Verb 1)
2. Nominal (state)
(Using Auxiliary Verb) or ToBe (am,are,is)
Example of Simple Present
 I am a teacher
 You are not a student
 Do They Watch TV?
 We are students
 She does not work in London
 It is my new house
 Does He run every morning?

Grammatical View
Add affix “s” for (She, it, He)
Example : (She works, It works, He works )

Add affix “es” to verbs ending in (ch, sh, ss, x, o)


Example : teaches, washes, passes, mixes, goes)

Add affix “ies” to verbs ending in (y)


example “fly (flies) cry (cries)
if there is a vowel before “y” add “s” in ending
example : play (plays) pray (prays)
