• The wind movement is northwest, so it is answered that there are ventilation openings
on the north and west side and the materials used in the construction are an acoustic
wall, but there is inconvenience on the western side, so the concrete wall must be
sound-proof and for the eastern and southern sides it will be glass, but the glass must be
sound-proof because of little noise From the southern side, but there is a beautiful view
with trees on the southern side because they have beautiful views, the person feels
positive towards the green views. As for the roof materials, it will be glass because
when a person looks at the sky, he feels positive and optimistic and seeks to work
harder and for the interior colors it must be positive when he looks at it The person
feels comfortable and reassured, which is the white color. As for the movement inside
the building, it must be a series for the person between the rooms of the library, and for
the interior walls, they must be isolating the sound because the person needs a quiet
place to study and the colors must be consistent and comfortable

Design Purpose

The key approach that emerged from

these discussions was that the
community wanted a facility that
everyone could share. Rather than
only a library or a community centre
or childcare centre, it became clear
that it was important to have all of
these facilities together in one
building, in one place. In this way the
building became a truly shared place
Concept where the whole community could
meet and use in different ways.
Important, too, was for the building to
Transparency represent and reflect the community’s
building was not merely ‘transparent’, or only expose values.
what is accommodated within, but that it represented
and embodied the values of the community.
Accessibility, openness, transparency and sustainability
were key values as was a general sense of aspiration.
Form
four integrated formal elements emerged: a new simple open
space and platform, a prismatic glass environmental atrium, a
suspended ‘U’ shaped timber form and a transitional foyer space.
The series of glass prisms creates an open, transparent façade,
akin to an open dolls house, and addresses the new open space
so that all the different activities of the centre are visible and
displayed, encouraging participation.

• Location: Seattle, Washington

Concept

“The modern library, especially in a

cybercity such as Seattle, must
transform itself into an information
storehouse aggressively orchestrating
the coexistence of all available
technologies.

SHAPE & FORM

A large glass building with straight lines intersecting indicates the
importance of the building

The " spiral " , was a new way of delivering books to customers within a
library system . Instead of books on different shelves and floors, the spiral
inclined allowed a continuous row of books that make them " easy to
navigate.

The architects pushed and pulled the platforms almost 50 feet out of
vertical alignment with each other to capture light and views

context

The apparent scale lessness of its diamond-grid

cladding, Illuminated at night, it glows like a giant
X-ray, exposing its vital organs through its
exoskeleton.

On the initial images it is only visible the unusual and dislocated silhouette of the
building, but as the pedestrian approaches, the interior of the building and its
floating platforms are revealed.

When passing by the library, pedestrians enter their details through sight and
perception, and not through use or touch

In the later views of this sequence, the pedestrian curiously does not enter the library
but passes just next to it.

ICELAND
Architects: Arkitema Architects

Area: 7400 m²

Year: 2010

Concept

The arts center will form a social linchpin in Akureyri.

Its significance as a social linchpin is reflected partly
in the building's circular form, and partly in the public
pedestrian street which cuts through the building.

Choosing a circular shape indicates

symbolism, stability and centering in
place.

The path
From the start it gave me the feeling that the place
had been a lot, and that the pedestrians were not
paying attention to the waters around them and
continuing their way.
The material

Granite is a gem in nature, able to provide uniqueness to

any building with a contemporary finish.

The facade

The importance of designers in the building, and this is evidenced

by the high narrow windows that feel like giants put them, they
were also built for the optimum natural lighting inside

The interior

It gives the user comfort while

wandering and makes him feel
warm, Calms the mind and
relaxes the nervous system.

In order to link the outside atmosphere of

the building and me, it is not far from the
importance of the place.

There is an urge to rethink what a learning space is; and what a

learning space for an architecture school could become.

The project has expanded the meaning of the architecture

library to be more than a place for reading books, but to
become 'a creative incubator’ for students of architecture.

While digital data already surrounds us

virtually, the physical space of the library There is a three-dimensional system

caused by the surrounding circulation. The

There are things that capture your attention such as objects made of glass , gentle shapes without edges ,elegant
timber construction, huge areas of closely packed tree curves rounding off the geometrical volumes of the objects
trunks floating on wide expanses of water, the wood at specific points such as Zaha Hadid Baku cultural center
