IT IS IMPORTANT FOR A READER TO
DETERMINE BIASES IN A TEXT TO BE ABLE
TO KOW THE STAND OF A WRITER.

form a personal stand about ideas being
presented instead of immediately getting swayed
by what is being forwarded in a reading text.
Knowing biases also helps the reader to
appreciate a text base on its own merit.
TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY BIASES, ONE
MAY ASK THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
 Is the statement supported with
evidence?
Is the statement particularly convincing
the reader to believe an idea?
Does the statement reveal the behavior of
the speaker?
EXAMPLES:
1.Life is better lived exploring the
world.
2.Working all day renders one blind
of the beauty of nature.
3.Travelling is the only key to
understanding human nature.
