CLASSIFICATION OF ACCIDENTS

Accidents are classified according to two following


categories;

• Classification based on Magnitude of Danger of life


and Property
– Minor (No loss of life)
– Moderate (Injury but no loss of life)
– Major (Loss of life)
– Disaster (Extensive loss of life and/or property)
CLASSIFICATION OF ACCIDENTS
• Classification based on Principal cause and Effect
– Fire and Explosions
– Electrical Accidents (Shocks and sparks)
– Chemical Accidents (Emission of gases, Nuclear disasters)
– Accidents with machines, plants, tools (due to failure)
– Falling of objects on body (During construction & plant op.)
– Falling of person in pits or from height
– Accidents from civil works (Buildings & Bridges)
– Human made accidents ( Sabotage, theft of critical parts)
– Natural Disasters (Flood, Earthquake, landslides)
