INTEGRATED MARKETING SOLUTIONS

Client: "We want to do a 30 sec TVC“

Agency: "Sure! What's the brief!?"

That's precisely the advertising agency we are not.

We would rather wonder if a TVC is the best solution given the

brief/problem. The media landscape today is complex and the established
norms no longer off er the best ROI for the money spent. And heck, the
best solution may not even need the media spend of a TV release.

We are about identifying problems/opportunities and off ering 'intelligent

& integrated' communications solutions. Solutions that are media
agnostic and stand out. Solutions that build durable brands and off er
business results.

Do you know why turmeric is an essential ingredient in Indian food?

A 'why' we believe does the same to your communication.

Turmeriq. Because why must precede what.

Who are we?

We are a bunch of seasoned communication professionals

with deep understanding and rich experience in crafting
communication solutions for leading global and local
brands.
What do we do?

We are an integrated communications & marketing solutions

company with a mission to help businesses and brands to
stay relevant and create long term value. We develop
consumer personas, brand platforms, brand experiences and
consumer engagement strategies.

We help clients integrate brand ideas to tell multiple

engaging stories to the right audience at the right time,
place and state of mind by leveraging human insight,
media, technology and context.
Our thinking starts with people

Today more than ever consumers co-create brands along with

the businesses. In order to guide this co-creation in the right
direction, we put empathy at the core of understanding
consumers as people – at home, work and play.

In other words, we enable brands to make meaningful

connections with people.
We design a series of memorable experiences

In today’s world we are dealing with a new generation of

consumers who are increasingly sceptical of traditional brand
communication and are fiercely independent in how they seek
information and how they form opinions.

We design brand experiences across consumer touch points to

unify and inspire media implementations in a manner that is
sincere and meaningful to the new age consumer.

MARKETING INNOVATION N
Our key people
I was born and brought up in Calcutta. And that means (as any Indian will tell you), I had an opinion on everything.
Besides which I had varied interests. From running a little magazine called ‘Paper Tiger’ to playing cricket and football at
professional levels to being involved in debates on any topic on earth, I lived the eventful life of a young man in
Calcutta. The only problem was that while I enjoyed it all, I didn’t perceive anything worthy of a life-long commitment. Rahul

And yet here I am, in a profession where my opinions and varied interests have held me in good stead, for 26 years. And
to quote Steve Jobs, now when I connect the dots back, it all makes perfect sense.

These 26 years, have been spent strategizing, guiding and successfully implementing digital marketing, CRM, loyalty
marketing and integrated communication solutions working with leading global and local brands such as Levi’s, Adidas,
Ford, Maruti Suzuki, HSBC, Standard Chartered, AIG, AEGON Life, GSK Consumer Health, P&G, Unilever, BBC Worldwide,
Shoppers’ Stop, Microsoft and Nokia to name a few.

I have held senior positions across Wunderman International, DDB, iContract, Lowe Lintas, Havas and have been the
Country Head at several digital & integrated creative agencies for over a decade and have been a valued member of
global teams on multiple brands over the years, also featuring in the bargain on the ‘WPP Global High Potential Group’
for four consecutive years.

Cross-industry learnings and occasional failures have turned me more prudent and given me the confidence to always
think beyond the obvious.

As a communication professional, I am a firm believer in the power of integrated communication built on customer
insights making use of data, technology and the right creative expression.

Most of my days start with 30 laps in the swimming pool and my spare time is filled with music - country, rock, folk and
70’s Bollywood mostly, and the occasional Sunday cricket.

Rahul Guha and I go back to 2007. We were colleagues inside the office and two chit chatting cigarette smokers just
outside the doors of Contract, Delhi. The real heart to heart between us though, happened on a cricket field where I think
we both surprised each other nicely. That this gent is a deadly off-spinner was as hard for me to believe as were my cover
drives off him. A friendship and mutual admiration that started then kept us in touch all along while we did our times in
separate agencies over the years. And it was in one of these conversations that we concluded that the same page we
often find ourselves on, ought to belong to a bigger story. Ravinder

Turmeriq is that story, as we write its first chapter together with couple other like-minded people.

As for my ‘how did I get into advertising’ story, let’s just say I was a bright boy from Chandigarh who had qualified to
pursue a PhD in Organic Chemistry when advertising happened. And like Rahul, if I connect the dots back, it seems only
natural now that I used to hang around more often with the English Literature crowd than my own chemistry classmates
during my college days.

My love for writing began with poems that I thought I would never read to anyone. The same poems when read to a
worthy ear later took me to every poetry forum of consequence in Chandigarh and then to Radio, TV, a poetry anthology
and eventually to advertising.

My eighteen years in advertising have seen stints at Everest Integrated, Contract, DDB and McCann with accolades from
Cannes, One Show, LIA (London International Awards), Spikes, Adfest, Goafest and Effies while serving brands such as
Coca Cola, Nestle, Sony, Nokia, Maggi, Dabur, Dettol, Dominos, GM, Volkswagen, Incredible India, Reebok and Reliance to
name some.

With my last job title reading ‘Executive Creative Director at McCann Worldgroup, Delhi’, the trajectory ahead promised
me a safe, smiling walk into the sunset. And so life would have gone on, had I not been bothered about how far behind
the Indian advertising agencies today are in their approach to work compared to the west.

To keep thinking ‘TV first’ today isn’t even right, let alone exciting! And to think of ‘digital’ as another medium… well,
enough said. Rahul and I are both acutely aware of where it’s at today. And that’s where we want to go. Amen.

First time I spoke to Ravinder, was when I needed to brief him on Itchguard – a young brand from Paras Pharma that
had done exceptionally well and rather quickly. And right off the bat, it seemed I was talking to a planner not a creative.
He wanted to know everything there was to know and not just the brief. And right away I knew I had met that rare
breed of creative that wants to start thinking alongside you even before you write the brief. Always his own harshest
critic, rarely ever satisfied and always asking for the next brief - that’s him.

Christened Krishnaraj Bhat at birth and a thoroughly good son to my parents, I started my advertising career rather
properly with a major in marketing research from MICA. And am I glad! To everyone who says research is of little
consequence in advertising, I say ‘research and research done right’ are two different things dude. Later on, I shifted to
account planning as that’s where I knew the real difference to an advertising task can be made.

I have spent about two decades in the planning function with agencies such as Bates, DDB and McCann across the cities
of Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Kuala Lumpur.

And the only job I am willing to swap places with is that of Ishai Golan to host 'Street Food Around The World'.

I “KP” began my journey with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from CMV, Nagpur and my first stint in advertising was in
the capacity of an illustrator and while that is something I love to this day, I progressed to the art side of things pretty
soon. Along the way, I also went on to acquire a diploma in management. So just in case I was misunderstood to be the
other Krishna, I could be a worthwhile proxy. Kidding of course, I am! But I did that little diploma thing just to
understand what the marketing and communication blah is all about. Wasn’t going to start doing excel sheets ever.

In about two decades of my advertising life I have worked across brands such as Tata Tea, Apollo Tyres, Videocon,
Kenstar, Star TV, Paras Pharmaceuticals, Frooti, Godrej, HPCL, Union Bank of India, Air India and Jyoti Laboratories.

One Show, ABBYs, AAAI, IAMAI, Digixxx, IMA are a few of the awards I have won along with various talented teams I
have led and worked with. Besides all of which I do enjoy telling my relatives that I feature in the 'Limca Book of
Records'. And that’s thanks to another campaign for Axis Bank.

In my off time, I am just a free soul with a camera in hand who takes every opportunity to get behind a wheel to drive
off to off-beat places so he can go click click.

After completing my graduation from the L.S. Raheja School of Arts, Bandra, I started my journey
in Advertising. I have worked with agencies like Law & Kenneth, Saatchi & Saatchi, Saints &
Warriors and Pinxit Blue. Today, after an experience of more than 18 years in the field of
Advertising, I have brands like P&G, Skoda, Mahindra, Cox & Kings, Pantaloons, BPCL, Bombay
Dyeing, Go Air and many others in my portfolio. My love for Mother Nature and environment
inspired me to start a brand called Recycle Design & Craft where we manufacture stationery and
artistic products made from recycled materials.

I, Rohini, believe in letting the work do the talking for you.

Experienced in conceptualizing and executing ideas across categories - from Retail to Fashion and Apparel, Real Estate,
Automobiles, Foods and Beverages, MFDs, Manufacturing, B2B, Healthcare, Homecare and Personal Care, I work in
advertising, because I am passionate about it. As I pun with my friends often, ‘it’s not an occupation, it’s a pre-occupation
for me’. So yes, this is not just work for me.

I am a MICA, Ahmedabad graduate and my previous stints have seen me in planning roles at Leo Burnett and DDB Mudra
as well as managing the Hon’ble PM’s digital outreach activities from when he was the CM of Gujarat. Having said that I
like to think of myself as an advertising person and not just a planner. Having won the India chapter of Young Spikes India,
2017, competing with young creatives from practically every agency in India, I feel boundaries exist only in our minds and
passion always trump talent. A believer in 'relative superlatives', I believe a ‘big idea’ is better than several small ones.

I prefer chai over coffee, books over movies, hills over beaches, sunrises over sunsets, Instagram over Twitter, Tumblr over
Reddit, Sirius over Lupin, Google over Apple, Da Vinci over Michelangelo and Feminism over Femvertising.

Rohini and I have never worked together before but when team Turmeriq was coming together, I sensed the two of us
were of a kind – both of us belonging to that breed of people who do not recognize silos.
  Kailash Iyer
Quite naturally then, people have often confused my job role. They’d just come and say someone told them I was the go
to person for an art job! At other times creative directors have come to me saying ‘just write this please, will you?’ I
have now started putting my job profile like this to people – ‘I am a techie who can also do art and copy.’

My interest in tech side of things started with me being a huge gamer. At heart, I still am a huge gamer but now without
the kind of time I used to have. The tech and code bug bit me seriously enough in those days though, and I did end up
pursuing a bachelor's degree in Information Technology. And while I was good at software programming, looking at long
lines of code was ultimately something I did not see myself doing. But not before I spent a few months as a game
designer creating levels and interfaces for Nokia's good old Symbian operating system!

Eventually, I found myself dabbling full time in ‘advertising and design’. The former, thanks to a two year stint at
Symbiosis Pune, and the latter because design has interested me as long as I can remember.

Once in a while doing just tech, but mostly doing tech, copy and design all by myself, I have spent the last 12 years
creating brand campaigns, digital films, apps, website interfaces, positioning and identity systems, and every other
imaginable marketing communication collateral for a wide array of clients that include Vodafone, Bajaj, Tata Motors, Big
Bazar, Saavn, Four Seasons Hotels, Axe, Lakme’, Asian Paints and Castrol among others. Agencies I have spent my time at
include 22feet, DDB Mudra, Ogilvy, and GroupM.

I love pets and currently me and my wife share our living space with six stray cats. Or as the cats would say, ‘six of us
cats are currently sharing our living space with Kailash and his wife’.

With poetry as one of my favourite writing mediums, I found a growing passion for words and
expressing through them. ‘Try advertising’ someone said to me, and a new journey unfolded. As
a self-employed writer, I’ve worked for Maharashtra Tourism. Aside from writing, I love reading,
music and Marathi theatre. My spirit of adventure finds a home in food, where I love discovering
new cuisines and flavours.
