GO-TO-MARKET MULTIDISCIPLINARY
& INTEGRATED CREATIVE STRATEGY
COMMUNICATION STRATEGY & EXECUTION ABILITY
I have held senior positions across Wunderman International, DDB, iContract, Lowe Lintas, Havas and have been the
Country Head at several digital & integrated creative agencies for over a decade and have been a valued member of
global teams on multiple brands over the years, also featuring in the bargain on the ‘WPP Global High Potential Group’
for four consecutive years.
Cross-industry learnings and occasional failures have turned me more prudent and given me the confidence to always
think beyond the obvious.
As a communication professional, I am a firm believer in the power of integrated communication built on customer
insights making use of data, technology and the right creative expression.
Most of my days start with 30 laps in the swimming pool and my spare time is filled with music - country, rock, folk and
70’s Bollywood mostly, and the occasional Sunday cricket.

Rahul Guha and I go back to 2007. We were colleagues inside the office and two chit chatting cigarette smokers just
outside the doors of Contract, Delhi. The real heart to heart between us though, happened on a cricket field where I think
we both surprised each other nicely. That this gent is a deadly off-spinner was as hard for me to believe as were my cover
drives off him. A friendship and mutual admiration that started then kept us in touch all along while we did our times in
separate agencies over the years. And it was in one of these conversations that we concluded that the same page we
often find ourselves on, ought to belong to a bigger story. Ravinder
Turmeriq is that story, as we write its first chapter together with couple other like-minded people.
As for my ‘how did I get into advertising’ story, let’s just say I was a bright boy from Chandigarh who had qualified to
pursue a PhD in Organic Chemistry when advertising happened. And like Rahul, if I connect the dots back, it seems only
natural now that I used to hang around more often with the English Literature crowd than my own chemistry classmates
during my college days.
My love for writing began with poems that I thought I would never read to anyone. The same poems when read to a
worthy ear later took me to every poetry forum of consequence in Chandigarh and then to Radio, TV, a poetry anthology
and eventually to advertising.
My eighteen years in advertising have seen stints at Everest Integrated, Contract, DDB and McCann with accolades from
Cannes, One Show, LIA (London International Awards), Spikes, Adfest, Goafest and Effies while serving brands such as
Coca Cola, Nestle, Sony, Nokia, Maggi, Dabur, Dettol, Dominos, GM, Volkswagen, Incredible India, Reebok and Reliance to
name some.
With my last job title reading ‘Executive Creative Director at McCann Worldgroup, Delhi’, the trajectory ahead promised
me a safe, smiling walk into the sunset. And so life would have gone on, had I not been bothered about how far behind
the Indian advertising agencies today are in their approach to work compared to the west.
To keep thinking ‘TV first’ today isn’t even right, let alone exciting! And to think of ‘digital’ as another medium… well,
enough said. Rahul and I are both acutely aware of where it’s at today. And that’s where we want to go. Amen.
First time I spoke to Ravinder, was when I needed to brief him on Itchguard – a young brand from Paras Pharma that
had done exceptionally well and rather quickly. And right off the bat, it seemed I was talking to a planner not a creative.
He wanted to know everything there was to know and not just the brief. And right away I knew I had met that rare
breed of creative that wants to start thinking alongside you even before you write the brief. Always his own harshest
critic, rarely ever satisfied and always asking for the next brief - that’s him.
Christened Krishnaraj Bhat at birth and a thoroughly good son to my parents, I started my advertising career rather
properly with a major in marketing research from MICA. And am I glad! To everyone who says research is of little
consequence in advertising, I say ‘research and research done right’ are two different things dude. Later on, I shifted to
account planning as that’s where I knew the real difference to an advertising task can be made.
I have spent about two decades in the planning function with agencies such as Bates, DDB and McCann across the cities
of Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Kuala Lumpur.
And the only job I am willing to swap places with is that of Ishai Golan to host 'Street Food Around The World'.
I “KP” began my journey with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from CMV, Nagpur and my first stint in advertising was in
the capacity of an illustrator and while that is something I love to this day, I progressed to the art side of things pretty
soon. Along the way, I also went on to acquire a diploma in management. So just in case I was misunderstood to be the
other Krishna, I could be a worthwhile proxy. Kidding of course, I am! But I did that little diploma thing just to
understand what the marketing and communication blah is all about. Wasn’t going to start doing excel sheets ever.
In about two decades of my advertising life I have worked across brands such as Tata Tea, Apollo Tyres, Videocon,
Kenstar, Star TV, Paras Pharmaceuticals, Frooti, Godrej, HPCL, Union Bank of India, Air India and Jyoti Laboratories.
One Show, ABBYs, AAAI, IAMAI, Digixxx, IMA are a few of the awards I have won along with various talented teams I
have led and worked with. Besides all of which I do enjoy telling my relatives that I feature in the 'Limca Book of
Records'. And that’s thanks to another campaign for Axis Bank.
In my off time, I am just a free soul with a camera in hand who takes every opportunity to get behind a wheel to drive
off to off-beat places so he can go click click.

After completing my graduation from the L.S. Raheja School of Arts, Bandra, I started my journey
in Advertising. I have worked with agencies like Law & Kenneth, Saatchi & Saatchi, Saints &
Warriors and Pinxit Blue. Today, after an experience of more than 18 years in the field of
Advertising, I have brands like P&G, Skoda, Mahindra, Cox & Kings, Pantaloons, BPCL, Bombay
Dyeing, Go Air and many others in my portfolio. My love for Mother Nature and environment
inspired me to start a brand called Recycle Design & Craft where we manufacture stationery and
artistic products made from recycled materials.
Eventually, I found myself dabbling full time in ‘advertising and design’. The former, thanks to a two year stint at
Symbiosis Pune, and the latter because design has interested me as long as I can remember.
Once in a while doing just tech, but mostly doing tech, copy and design all by myself, I have spent the last 12 years
creating brand campaigns, digital films, apps, website interfaces, positioning and identity systems, and every other
imaginable marketing communication collateral for a wide array of clients that include Vodafone, Bajaj, Tata Motors, Big
Bazar, Saavn, Four Seasons Hotels, Axe, Lakme’, Asian Paints and Castrol among others. Agencies I have spent my time at
include 22feet, DDB Mudra, Ogilvy, and GroupM.
I love pets and currently me and my wife share our living space with six stray cats. Or as the cats would say, ‘six of us
cats are currently sharing our living space with Kailash and his wife’.
