    SPEECH FEST 2020

    ESSAY WRITING & ACADEMIC QUIZ BEE


    ACADEMIC QUIZ BEE
    OBJECTIVES:

    This contest aims to:


    ◆Gauge the students’ prior knowledge in all subjects and its
    components.

    ◆ Build positive attitude and confidence among the students.

    ◆Provide a proper venue for self-expression thereby develop


    students’ proficiency and social competence.

    ◆Provide an exciting and scholastic activity for the students to


    realize that learning is fun and engaging.
    GUIDELINES/MECHANICS:

    1. The contest is open to all college students in all


    levels.

    2. Each contestant is required to bring his/her own


    illustration board, chalk, and eraser.

    3. After the question is read by the quiz master, the


    contestant must answer it within 10 seconds. When
    the buzzer sounds, the contestant has to raise
    his/her board.
    4. If the contestant got the correct answer, he/she is
    qualifies\d for the next question or the next round.
    However, if the contestant failed to get the right answer,
    he/she is automatically out.

    5. The last person to remain until the last round and could
    answer all the questions will be proclaimed the winner.
    ESSAY WRITING CONTEST
    GUIDELINES/MECHANICS:

    1. The contest is open to all college students in all


    levels.

    2. A question related to the theme of the school event


    that will be asked to serve as the main topic which
    the participants shall write about. The question is
    given during the test proper.

    3. All entries must be written in English and must have


    at least 250 words and must not exceed 600 words.
    4. All essays must be original and previously unpublished.
    5. All entries will be judged based on the content,
    originality, structure and style.
    6. All entries must follow the specifications below:
    a. Margin: 1 inch on each side
    b. Contains at least three (3) paragraph

    7. Participants shall be given one (1) hour to write and


    finish their essay.
    Criteria for Judging:

    40% - Creativity

    20% - Structure

    15% - Adherence of Topic

    15% - Grammar
    100%
