BASIC SKILLS
 HITTING/ BATTING
- Offensive skill used to strike the pitched ball
using a bat. It is done to advance to the
bases and eventually leads to earning a run
or a point.
Elements:
1. Grip- use your fingers in gripping the bat
and tighten your grip as the ball approaches
2. Stance- feet parallel to the plate, bat tilted
in 45 degrees.
3. Stride- stride the right foot a little backward
to gain momentum
4. Swing-

BASIC SKILLS
 RUNNING/ BASE RUNNING
- very important skill, it allows you to
advance from one base to another with
full speed and agility.

BASIC SKILLS
RULES AND REGULATION
1. Position and Lineups
- DEFENSE- 5 infields(pitcher, catcher,
1st, 2nd, 3rd base, shortstop)
- 3 outfields
- OFFENSE- arranged lineups for
batting
2. PITCHING AND DEFENSE

Strike Zone- area that reaches the batters

knees to his chest.( 3 strike- OUT)
Strike- Batter swings and misses
-batter hits the ball into foul
territory
Balls- the pitcher throws the pitch and
misses strike zone. (4 Ball- FREE RUN)
3. STRIKE OUT
- after 3 strikes the batter is out.
However, a better cannot strike out on a
foul ball. If he hits a foul ball with two
strikes, the count remains the same.
4. TAG OUT
- when the ball is in play, any
defensive player may tag a base runner
when he is off the base to record an out.
5. CATCH
- if the batter hits a pitched ball in
play, and any member of the defense
catches it in the air, then the batter is out.
6. FORCE OUT
- if the pitched ball set in play and not
caught in air, the defense may field the ball
and touch first base before the batter
reaches the first base to record the out.
7. SCORING
- home run
SEVERAL WAYS TO REACH BASE SAFELY
 SINGLE- able to hit the ball and is not
catch by the defense, and made it to the
first base without being tagged out.
 DOUBLE- able to hit the ball and is not
catch by the defense, and made it to the
2nd base without being tagged out.
 TRIPLE- able to hit the ball and is not
catch by the defense, and made it to the
3rd base without being tagged out.
 HOMERUN
- able to hit the ball and is not catch
by the defense, and made it to the home
plate without being tagged out. In addition,
if the batter hit the pitched ball that lands
beyond the designated outfield fence, it is
an automatic home run.
 BASE ON BALLS
- if the pitcher throws 4 pitches out of
strike zone before the batter strike the ball
or strikes out, then the batter is awarded
first base.
 HIT BY PITCH
- if a pitched ball strikes the batter on
any part of his body, the batter is awarded first
base.
 CATCHER’S INTERFERENCE
- if the batter’s bat makes a contact with
the catcher while he attempts to swing at a
pitch, the batter is awarded first base.
 DROPPED THIRD STRIKE
-if a batter swings and misses at a
pitched ball for the third strike, but the catcher
drops the ball or bounces away, the runner
may attempt to run to the first base. If the
batter reaches the first base before the catcher
can tag him out or make a force-out, then the
batter is safe.
 FIELDER’S CHOICE
- if the batter hits a pitched ball into
play and the defense chooses to tag or
force-out another base runner instead of
the batter , then it is considered as the
fielder’s choice.
