DESIGN & ANALYSIS OF
INDOOR POOL STADIUM

NAME : P.ARTHEE GUIDED BY

REG NO : 953216103004 Mrs . A. SARANYA
INTRODUCTION
• A stadium is a place or venue for indoor and outdoor
sports, concerts, or other events, consists of a field or stage
either partly or completely surrounded by a tiered structure
designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the
event.
• Indoor pool is one of the most popular olympic sports, with
varied distance events such as butterfly ,backstroke ,freestyle,
and individual medley.
• In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can
take part either in a freestyle or medley relay.
• Indoor pools are usually rectangular in olympic and this
sport can takes place either in pools or open water
• In competition ,there are distinct regulations concerning the
acceptable form for each individual stroke.
REFERENCE
TYPES OF STADIUM
There are two types of pool stadium

 INDOOR POOL STADIUM

 OUTDOOR POOL STADIUM

Competition pools are generally indoors and heated to

enable their use all year round, and to more easily
comply with the regulations regarding temperature,
lighting, and automatic officiating equipment.
DIMENSIONS OF COMPETITION POOL STADIUM

The Federation Internationale de la Natation (FINA)

sets standards for competition pools:
• Length
• Short course - 25m (82 ft)
• Long Course - 50m (164 ft)
• Width
• Between 10 m (32 ft) and 50 m (164 ft)
• depth
• minimum 2m (6ft 7 in )
• 3m (9 ft 10 in ) Recommended
 An Olympic-size swimming pool should meet
FINA's additional standards for the Olympic Games
and for world championship events.
 SIZE: 25 by 21 m (164 by 82 ft) wide, divided into
eight lanes of 2.5 m (8.2 ft) each, plus two areas of
0.5 m (8.2 ft) at each side of the pool. Depth must be
at least 2 m (6.6 ft) at water temperature 25-28°C(77-
82 °f )
COMPONENTS OF INDOOR
POOL STADIUM
Indoor pool stadium comprises of
• Players Rooms
• Control Rooms
• Press Boxes
• Doping Room
• Rest Room
• First Aid Room
• Ticket Counter
• Electricity control Room
• Store Room
• Referee Room
• Trophy Cabinet
• Foundation room
• Canteen
• Water filter and chemical feeder room.
TRUSS
Truss is a pin jointed structure.
 King post truss ,Queen post truss, pitched Pratt truss,
pitched Howe truss, Fan truss, pitched Fink truss
,Trapezoidal truss, are the types in roof trusses.
Fink truss has been considered in this project. The
roof truss is made of Rolled Steel Joists.
 Fink truss is generally used for large span. The
analysis of a large span roof truss is tedious and time
consuming.
Hence STADD Pro is used for analyzing and
designing the roof truss.
COMPONENTS OF TRUSS
 Apex - highest point where the sloping top chords meet .
 Principal rafter - a horizontal member that establishes the upper
edge of the truss.
 Bottom chord - the lowest longitudinal member of a truss .
 Struts - Members subjected to compressive forces.
 Sag tie- loading case in the truss.
 Slings –members subjected to tension forces.
 Purlin - located at panel points of top chord members .
 Roof covering- top covering of a building
 Anchor bolt – connect structural and non-structural elements to
the concrete.
TYPES OF LOAD ON TRUSS

• Dead load + Live load

• Dead load + Live load + Wind load
• Dead load + Wind load
ADVANTAGES
• The most obvious benefit of an indoor swimming
pool is its ease of access and proximity to the living
area .
• Also having an indoor swimming pool will allow to
enjoy leisurely swim even the day that are cloudy or
rainy.
• Many indoor swimming pools are equipped with
heating systems that allow to control the temperature
of the water, and this can make a more enjoyable
swimming experiences for spectators.
OBJECTIVE
• To analyze and design of Indoor pool stadium with
steel roof truss.
• To understand the design concept for swimming pool
using Indian standard code 3328
• To understand the design concept for the steel roof
truss using Indian standard code 800:2000 &
Indian standard code 875 (part I ,part II, part III )
• To compare the results by MANUALLY & by
STADD PRO.
SCOPE

o Layout of STADIUM.
o It can be easily dismantle.
o The life span of stadium is about 50 Years.
o Maximum visibility and precast seating
arrangements for spectators.
