The document outlines the process and requirements for nurses from overseas to register as nurses in Ireland, which involves taking an aptitude test administered by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). The aptitude test assesses the candidate's knowledge and skills.

The aptitude test aims to assess overseas nurses' competence, professional skills, attitudes and application of knowledge to practice within the Irish context in order to determine if they are eligible to register as nurses in Ireland.

The aptitude test has two components - a multiple choice question (MCQ) theory test and an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) practical test. The theory test assesses knowledge while the OSCE assesses skills through simulation.
