MEANING OF
PUBLIC RELATION
• Public relations is the practice of managing
the spread of information between an
individual or an organization and the public.
• Public relation is much more different from
advertising.
• The aim of public relations is to inform the
public, prospective customers, investors,
partners, employees and other stakeholder.
• Public relations professionals typically work
for PR and marketing firms, businesses and
companies, government and public officials.
• Public relation specialists establish and
maintain relationships with an organization’s
target audience, the media, and other opinion
leaders.
OBJECTIVES
Like other aspects of marketing promotion , public
relations is used to address several broad
objectives including:
 Building Product Awareness: Giving awareness
regarding the relaunching product.
 Creating Interest: PR creates interest among public
regarding the product.
 Providing information: PR can be used to
provide information about the product in
depth.
 Stimulating demand
 Reinforcing Brand: The brand reinforcing
majorly focuses on maintaing the brand alive
among the existing and new customers.
FUNCTIONS
• Public relations is establishing the relationship among
the two groups.
• Art or science of developing reciprocal understanding
and goodwill.
• It analyses the public perception and attitude,
identifies the organization policy with public
interest and then executes the programmes for the
communication with the public.
ELEMENTS
A planned effort or management function.
 Evaluation of the public attitudes and
opinions.
 An organization’s policies, procedures and
actions as they relate to said organization’s
publics.
