Yoga Vidhyadham ,
Nashik.
 Started by Mr. Vishwasrao Mandlik. He is an
Electrical Engineer and has taken his training from
the Bihar School of Yoga . He is taking great efforts
to take yoga to as many persons as possible.

 Bharatiya Yoga Vidhyadham was established in


PUNE in the year 1960 .

 It was later shifted to Nashik in the year 1979 .

 Today there are over 150 centers .

The 8 fold path
PATANJALI’S
ASHTHANG YOGA

Yama , Niyama ,
Asana ,
Pranayama , Pratyahara ,
Dharana , Dhyan and Samadhi.
 
Yoga and exercise
differ
 The movements are slow.
 The movements are controlled.

 The breathing rate is not allowed to


rise.
 No strain beyond the bearable range is
exceeded.
 The internal organs get the strains and
hence their functioning improves.
 
Principle of Breathing :
 Exhale : When the body folds or when
the body moves towards the ground.

 Inhale : When the body unfolds or


when the body moves away from the
ground.
System to be followed..
 In the traditional system ,
 there was one GURU (teacher) and one SADHAK
(student). 
 Now the demand has increased ,
 There are few teachers and many students.
 This requires group teaching , and for this we need
to follow a particular discipline :
 Each and every action would start only after a count.
 Almost all actions would start with the left side , ( this
is for convenience only).
Remember
 Do not compare your postures with
that of the other students.
 It is not a competition .

 Everyone is different from the other.

 Each one has different flexibility and

capacity.
 Love your body the way it is.
The right approach….
While in an asana posture……
Are you feeling the strain ?
If yes ………..
then you are on the path to great health.
You are bound to get the fruits.
The course covers…
1. Preparatory movements.
2. Surya Namaskaras.
3. Asanas in the Sleeping , Supine , Sitting
and Standing positions.
4. Preparation for the study of Pranayama
and its introduction.
5. Starting prayer for concentration and the
ending prayer for the peace of mind.
 
 For this course the person should be fit, i.e.. He/she should not be suffering from
spondilisis, slip-disc, should not have undergone any operation for the past six
months, should not be suffering from heart problems. Apart from these problems if
any person has some other problem, the same should be discussed before starting of
the course.

 Please note hiding any of the problem just to undergo the course could be harmful, so
please do not hide any such information.

 Persons with ailments can wait from some time for another course, which can be
specifically designed accordingly. YOGA has something for every person, so nothing
to worry.

 During the course if any person has any health problem, the same should be
immediately brought to the notice of the teacher. Please do not hide any such
information.

 For Ladies : They should refrain from asanas during the mensuration cycle. However
they can attend to know what is being taught.
