III.SCIENTIFIC
MANAGEMENT
I. The introduction of scientific
management

It is the theory of management, developed and

published in Taylor ‘s monographs in 1911

The main objectives of this theory are to analyze

and synthesize workflows in order to improve
economic efficiency, especially labor productivity.

It consists of 2 primary part : Fundamentals

of Scientific Management and Principles of
Scientific Management
II. Fundermentals of Scientific Management

Taylor argued that management must base on:

Maximizing benefits of both Training and developing

managers and workers individuals in the organization
which is only achieved by to ensure that they do the high
maximizing productivity. class of work.
II. Fundermentals of Scientific Management

Taylor also figures out three reasons that lead workers works
inefficiently:

Defective management Inefficiently rules of

III.Principles of Scientific Management

4 principles:

1.Replace rules of thumb 2.Scientifically select and 3.Cooperate with the 4. Divide work nearly equally

IV.Advantages
and
Disadvantages
Advantages

Scientific management is essential for any kind of

business these days

The scientific management is beneficial to employees

when they start receiving higher salaries than before.

The works was carried out systematically according

to predetermined plan.

The recruitment was done on scientific lines and other

human rights for all selected correctly.

Higher profits can be plowed back or used for

financial autonomy to provide a sound basis of
financial concerns.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages
- Taylorism can easily be abused to exploit human being. It conflicts with
labor union.

- It is not useful to deal with group or team.

- Loss of skill level and autonomy at worker level. It is not useful in

current knowledge worker environments.

- Overemphasis on measuring. No attention for soft factors.

- Treating people like a machine and assumes that workers are satisfied
by money.
