Microwave Pyrolysis

 Pyrolysis using Microwave provides a unique way of heating

where heating effect comes by the interaction of
electromagnetic waves with the dipoles within the material[1]
Introduction
 Three mechanisms by which materials are being heated in
microwave pyrolysis
a) Dipole Orientation
b) Polarisation
c) Conduction Mechanism [2]

Objective Scope Of The Present Work

 To find the optimum conditions for The results obtained in the process can be
the temperature and the nitrogen validated in CFD analysis and they can be
flow rate done for different geometries and also by
scaling up the quantities.

Checking the validation using CFD

 Cost of the carrying out Experiment for a
limited no of trails is much higher
Problem
Limited shape of the reactor for the process
Definition due to which cost of the entire experimentation
would increase when different shape or scale of
the reactor is used increases

CFD Analysis
 Equations used
1) Continuity equation
2) Momentum equation
3) Heat balance equations in between solid-gas ,solid-liquid, liquid-gas phases.
The above equations were solved by inputting specific temperature of grains, and
data obtained from kinetics
