This document describes a hydraulic claw arm project that aims to explain Pascal's law using a hydraulic system with syringes. It contains sections on the description of the claw arm, the principles of pressure, force and area relationships in hydraulics, computations showing how displacing one syringe affects the others based on their areas, applications of hydraulic principles, and the significance of hydraulics to industry such as in heavy lifting and assembly line applications.

De Jesus Melisa T. delos Reyes BSEE 401-A Contents: Description of the claw arm Principles Computation Applications Significance to industry Description of the claw arm The project aims to explains and understand the Pascal’s Law using Hydraulic Claw Arm. This includes the relation between the pressure, force and cross-sectional area of the medium given the same fluid is acting on both ends. The container will be used is syringe and water as the fluid. It will also show part of the working principles of hydraulic vehicles. Principles The project aims to explain the following: 1. Pascal’s Law – At any point in a fluid at rest, the pressure is the same in all direction. 2. Velocity – Rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference, and is a function of time 3. Pressure – Force per unit area. 4. Area - is the quantity that expresses the extent of a two- dimensional figure or shape, or planar lamina, in the plane. 5. Force- is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object. 6. Volume-is the quantity of three-dimensional space enclosed by a closed surface. Pascal’s Law States that when there is an increase in pressure at any point in a confined fluid, there is an equal increase at every point in the container. The formula that relate to this are shown below: P1=P2 F1/A1=F2/A2 V1=V2 A1D1=A2D2 Computation Radius of 60ml syringe - 17mm Radius of 25ml syringe – 10mm Radius of 12ml syringe – 8mm 𝐴 = 𝜋𝑟 2 Area of 60ml syringe = 907.92 sq.mm Area of 25ml syringe = 314.16 sq.mm Area of 12ml syringe = 201.06 sq.mm Boom Syringe V1=V2= 60ml=60,000 cubic mm. A1=A2= 907.92 sq.mm V1=V2 A1D1=A2D2
Displacing the controller by 66mm will
displace the Boom Syringe by: (907.92sq.mm)(66mm)=(907.92sq.mm)D2 D2 = 66mm The ratio of force between the controller and the boom syringe will be: P1=P2 F1/A1=F2/A2 Since A1=A2 then; F1 = F2 The ratio is 1:1 Arm Syringe V1=V2= 60ml=60,000 cubic mm. A1=A2= 907.92 sq.mm V1=V2 A1D1=A2D2
Displacing the controller by 66mm will displace
the Arm Syringe by: (907.92sq.mm)(66mm)=(907.92sq.mm)D2 D2 = 66mm The ratio of force between the controller and the Arm syringe will be: P1=P2 F1/A1=F2/A2 Since A1=A2 then; F1 = F2 The ratio is 1:1 Claw Syringe A1= 201.06 sq.mm A2 = 314.16 sq. mm V1=V2 A1D1=A2D2
Displacing the controller by 30mm will displace
the Claw Syringe by: (201.06sq.mm)(30mm)=(314.16sq.mm)D2 D2 = 19.2mm The relationship of force between the controller and the Claw syringe will be: P1=P2 F1/A1=F2/A2 F1/201.06sq.mm=F2/314.16sq.mm F2=1.56F1 Tracker Syringe V1=V2= 12ml=12,000 cubic mm. A1=A2= 201.06 sq.mm V1=V2 A1D1=A2D2
Displacing the controller by 59mm will
displace the Tracker Syringe by: (201.06sq.mm)(59mm)=(201.06sq.mm)D2 D2 = 59mm The ratio of force between the controller and the Tracker syringe will be: P1=P2 F1/A1=F2/A2 Since A1=A2 then; F1 = F2 The ratio is 1:1 Applications The underlying principle of the hydraulic jack and hydraulic press. Force amplification in the braking system of the most motor vehicles. Used in artesian wells, water towers and dams. Significance to Industry The hydraulic arm that can grip or pick thinks in industrial purpose. These arms are used in assembly lines of mega factories to assemble the various parts of product and also to paint vehicles. They are also used in earth movers to pick up heavy weight and keep them where required Same principle is being used in JCB’s, automobiles, lifters. THANK YOU AND GODBLESS
