Abstract:
• Man has needed and used energy at an increasing rate for his sustenance and well
being ever since he came on the earth a few million years ago. Primitive man
required energy primarily in the form of food.
• With further demand for energy, man began to use the wind for sailing ships and
for driving windmills, and the force of falling water to turn water wheels.
• Till this time, it would not be wrong to say that the sun was supplying all the
energy needs of man either directly or indirectly and that man was using only
renewable sources of energy
COMPONENTS AND DESCRIPTION:
Frame Arrangement
This is made up of mild steel. The model frame is made up of mild steel
pipe material. These steel pipes are welded to form a frame structure.
NON-RETURN VALVE
This valve is used to speed up the piston movement and also it acts as an one –
way restriction valve which means that the air can passthrough only one way and it can't
return back. By using this valve the time consumption is reduced because of the faster
movement of the piston.
Any excess air in the air tank is flowed out automatically through the quick
exhaust valve.
Hose & connectors:
Hoses used in this pneumatic system are made up of polyurethane. These hoses can with
stand at a maximum pressure level of 10x105N/m2. In our system there are two types of
connectors used. One is the Hose connector and the other is the reducer. Hose connectors
normally comprise an adopt hose nipple and cap nut.
These type of connectors are made up of brass or aluminum or hardened pneumatic steel.
Flow control valve:
This valve acts as an one – way restriction valve which means that the air can pass
through only one way and it can't return back. A screw is provided to control the flow of air.
Pneumatic Cylinder:
The cylinder is a Single acting cylinder one, which means that the air pressure operates
forward and spring returns backward . When the solenoid valve is operated by passing
current to it compressed air is released into the pneumatic cylinder and the piston is acted
forward to operate the brake lever
Working operation:
• When the vehicle moves on the uneven or irregular road surface the
foot pump is operated by springs connected to wheels.
• The foot pump connected to springs helps in reciprocating the
piston inside the foot pump cylinder.
• Thus the compressed air is produced from the foot pump outlet with
a definite pressure, which is collected into the air tank.
