The key takeaways from the document are that mind mapping is a technique to efficiently organize and visualize ideas using images, colors and associations. It allows one to unlock the full potential of the brain.

The principles of mind mapping are to use keywords instead of full concepts, associate ideas visually, organize hierarchically, visualize concepts and use colors and symbols.

Radiant thinking and mind mapping harness both sides of the brain by connecting a central idea to associated sub-ideas radially. It provides a way to efficiently unlock the brain's potential through visualization and associations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
•Tony Buzan is the leading authority in
mind mapping and brain and learning
techniques.

•This book is co-authored by Barry

Buzan, who is a professor in University of
Warwick.

• He has worked with: corporate entities, Olympic athletes,

children, in teaching them how to maximize the use of their
brain power.
• He is the founder of Brain Trust Charity, and author of 15
books including “Use both sides of your brain”, “Speed
Reading” and “Use your perfect memory”.
PRINCIPLES OF MIND MAPPING
Mind Mapping is based on a few basic principles:

* use keywords instead of whole concepts/paragraphs

* associate whatever is possible
* Organize into hierarchy
* try and Visualize/image the concepts
* use colours and symbols

Even if we store a 10 pictures, associations, words every second for next 100
years, even then we would have used less than 10% of our brain capacity.

Mind mapping is primarily used to use your brain EFFICIENTLY.

In 1970, Ralph Haber conducted an experiment in which he presented subjects

with 2560 slides. The accuracy of recognition was 85%-95%.
A similar experiment, in which 10000 slides with “vivid” images, similar to mind
maps were used. The recognition rate here was 99.9%.
RADIANT THINKING AND MIND
MAPPING

• Radiant thinking is an associative thought processes that

proceeds from and/or connects to a central point, leading to
a colored graphic image called mind map.

• It provides a universal key to unlocking the potential of the

brain.

• The mind map harnesses the full range of cortical skills—

word, image, number, logic, rhythm, color and spatial
awareness—in a single, uniquely powerful technique.
HOW TO START THE PROCESS?
• The subject is crystallized as a
“Central idea”.

• its associations “radiate” in the

form of branches and sub-
branches and so on like leaves
and branches of a tree.
• Keywords are used to
associate relations.

• Every key word or image

added brings the possibility of
a new and greater range of
associations.

engineering manual, which helped save millions of dollars worth of staff time, paper.
