NHRD policy in Kenya

Overview
• Kenya is a country in Africa side
• It was the colony country of British commonweal
• Many presenting HRD and policies based on British
system
• High birth rate
• AIDS/HIV problems
• Lack of education, but the education is a fundamental
strategy for HRD is the first phase of government
National Development Plan
Education

• Training and capacity building

Strategies planned to address this are follow
-Review and strengthen the implementation of the bursary scheme
-Encourage the establishments of more day secondary schools
-Enhance the teaching of English, science and mathematics
-Review the Education Act to streamline secondary school management
-Expand and rehabilitate existing secondary schools
Education
• University Education and Training
The university is emphasize on using new technology that
aims for practice more training:
-Emphasize the commission for higher education (CHE)
-Reviewing policies to ensure they are gender responsive
-Collaborations of the private sector in providing loans and
awarding scholarship in under enrolled critical technological
and science based program
-Improved resource mobilization, allocation, use and
enhanced accountability
-Continuous review and strengthening of parallel university programs
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
in Formal Education

- The government try to improve their education by using of


the ICT with the government support. Government of Kenya
aims to set up the latest version of ICT with primary,
secondary and tertiary institutions and it could be used as
the first ICT in service teacher program training program to
train 43,000 teachers by the end of plan period. (Plan
period 2002-2008, of universal student ICT literacy.)

Labour employment and Social Security

To address the falling productivity, the government intends


to establish a National Productivity Center (NPC) whose
key responsibilities will include the following:
- Raising competitiveness and productivity in all sectors of
the economy
- Improving employee work life and enchancing industrail
relation s
- Fostering cooperation and collaboration between
national productivity organization and other related
bodies

• Gender: The different between males and
females enable males can play more action and
rolls in term of finding career while women gain
the lesser opportunity in many sides. Some
women are force to marriages and food taboos.
These is a limiting opportunity for Kenya’s social
and economic development.
Conclusion
• Even though the Kenya was once in Briish
colony, Kenya also realize the necessary of HR
in the national level. The Education play more
roll since the first elementary~ university. Which
the scholarship are available.
• The service of Training concern to ICT topic are
also supported as well
• Both of the internal and external are provide
• Women play more role in the world of carrier
