Dorothy, an actress and singer, was the first African-American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.

CHAMPS!!
Clements Academic Decathlon Team won the 2014 Regional Competition at Seven Lakes High School on January 25, 2014. The Team scored 42,859 points and is currently ranked 8th in the State of Texas.

Register for 2014-15


9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will begin online course selection through Skyward for the 2014-15 school year beginning Monday, February 10. Counselors will be visiting English classes the week of Feb 3 to distribute information regarding courses and graduation plans. Please look for more information on Ranger Wire beginning Feb 10.

Graduation Info
Seniors If you need to order items for graduation including announcements and cap and gown, Balfour representatives will be here on Monday, Feb 10 in the Commons at lunch. You can also order from Balfour online at Balfour.com or come to the Balfour office on Chimney Rock near the Galleria. Make sure to have your graduation order completed by March 3 to avoid added charges.

Comp Sci Wins


Computer Science teams did an outstanding job at the UT Austin invitational competition this weekend. They received 1st place team written, 1st place team programming and 1st place team overall awards. Individual Awards 1st place Michael Loppiccolo 2nd place Raymond Chee, Michael Li, Jim Ren

German Wins
Clements students took first place in sweepstakes this past weekend at Houstonfest German contest, regaining the title that we lost to archrival Kingwood last year. About 50 students have thus qualified for the Texas State German Contest at UTAustin on February 22.

Congrats Model UN
20 students brought home awards at the Houston Area Model UN Competition, and the entire group won Best Large Delegation

SPEECH TEAM CONTINUES WINS


The Clements Academic Speech Team earned first place sweepstakes awards at both the Dulles Tournament , January 3 and 4, and the Mayde Creek Tournament, January 17 and 18. Also, more students have qualified to compete at the Texas Forensic Association State Meet in March, bringing the teams total number of qualifications to 27.

COMP SCI WINS


the Computer Science teams placed first and third at the Seven Lakes UIL invitational A. There was a three way tie for first place individual. All three students ( Michael LoPiccolo, Jim Ren, and Micheal Li ) were from Clements. Also congratulate Michel LoPiccolo for advancing to Gold team and Wilbur Li and Byron Xu to Silver team in USA Computing Olympiad competition

DECATHLON WINS
Academic Decathlon dominated the District Competition in Dec. We had the highest overall team score and won first place in Super Quiz Overall Individual Score (total): John Hattan 1st place Anna Wang 1st place Aanandh Chandrasekar 1st place

JETS
The JETS competed at the Langham Creek Science Olympiad Invitational. Two CHS teams competed and placed 3rd overall.

JETS WINS AGAIN


JETS placed 1st and 2nd overall at the Hendrickson Science Fair Olympaid. We received 38 of the possible 54 medals

Shots for Seniors


The passage of Senate Bill (SB) 1107, 82nd Texas Legislature, Regular Session, requires that all students entering Texas institutions of higher education to be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis within the last five years and at least 10 days prior to the first day of class. If you have received the meningitis immunization (Menactra) after September 2009, you meet the minimum criteria. If not, schedule your appointment early. The school will NOT be sponsoring a meningitis clinic to update these shots. Vaccines through Texas Vaccines for Children program are no longer available to vaccinate students with insurance.

PRO GRAD
Clements ProGrad will be having a style and talent show on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Sweetwater Country Club. There will also be a silent Auction. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.clementsprograd.com Proceeds from the event will help fund Clements High School Project Graduation which will be held on June 7th at Main Event in Katy.
