Introduction
Telecommunication is the transmission of information. The word telecommunication has its roots in two words: Tele in Greek meaning distant and communication in Latin meaning connection Telecommunication includes Radio, Television, Internet, Telephone, Mobile phone. Mode of communication is through wired cables, fibre optics, satellites, radio waves & micro waves.

Regulatory Environment
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India is the main governing body for the industry. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) assists the Government of India to take timely decisions and introduce new technologies. The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) was also established in the same year

SCAM
2G Spectrum Scam. Some licenses and startup-spectrum was to be allotted to companies on first come first serve basis no auction was to be held. But some officials took bribes from companies and sold them the spectrum.
Growth prospects
3G(generation) In india 3G was launched in 2010,BSNL was the 1st one to launch it.Tata Docomo was the first private operator to launch 3G services in India.
4G LONG TERM EVOLUTION is the name by which it is launched in INDIA. Bharti Airtel is the only operator in the country to launch 4G. They launched 4G services in April 2012.
Conclusion
India is huge market and none of service providers can dare to ignore its potential. This journey of 1 million to 50 million will keep it pace until each citizen in India will have his own mobile. Services providers are now willing to provide varies facilities like entertainment (music, video etc.) and even banking also. In short we can say drastic change has came in the industry along with expanding its base in subscribers, they are keeping eye not only to offer new facilities but also to be the first to provide it.
Recommendation
Improvement of proper infrastructure for 4G. Reduction of congestion. Better value added services must be offered. Kapil sibal`s idea of one number.. Must be enforced
