rett Sutherland, Solar Power Australias managing director, speaks highly of his team, who are not only passionate about renewable energy, but are enthusiastic professionals with years of training and qualifications behind them. Solar Power Australia created Australias first online solar store in 2001 which is operated under the trading name Solar Online Australia. Mr Sutherland said, Were not just a household solar company like a lot of other companies we actually come from an industrial background and are able to service industrial clients. USO is the worlds largest manufacturer of lightweight, flexible, thin film solar PV laminates. Mr Sutherland said the relationship with USO was extremely positive for Australia. As a leading provider of wholesale and retail products to the Australian and Pacific market, SPA sees this as an opportunity to expand its range with a unique product that has tremendous potential in the commercial market, he said. We are looking forward to working closely with USO to deliver great value to our
customers, and believe this product is a revolutionary advancement in technology for the Australian market. UNI-SOLAR solar PV laminates are lightweight, flexible and directly adhere to approved roofing surfaces, thus avoiding numerous roof penetrations. At less than 500g per square foot, the UNI-SOLAR PowerBond solar laminate is less than one-fifth of the weight of crystalline solar panels. This makes them particularly valuable on low-load roof structures which cannot tolerate the weight or roof integrity risk posed by conventional solar systems. The polymer composition means they can be used on curved surfaces and do not have the glare effect that glass panels present. For buildings with a low roof angle UNISOLAR offers its PowerTilt product, allowing the solar PV array to be tilted by 15 degrees, providing a higher output and higher returns. UNI-SOLAR products are particularly well suited for integration with membrane or metal roofing systems. Mr Sutherland said the superior performance of UNI-SOLAR laminates both in high temperatures and shade made them very attractive in the Australian market. In comparison to crystalline modules, the amorphous silicon technology used in UNI-SOLAR laminates ensures that system performance is less affected by high temperatures and partial shading, he said.
BRIGHT OUTLOOK
The future vision is to continue doing what we do best which is custom applications, but also larger-scale commercial solar systems; Australia is moving into megawatt projects and we obviously want to be a part of that, Mr Sutherland said.
