Rules
This individual participation event consists of two rounds: PRELIMS: It starts with an objective questionnaire containing 25 questions which should be answered within 30mins. Each right answer will be awarded 1 mark and negative mark is deducted for each wrong answer.Selection to the finals is based on the marks obtained and the number of finalists depends on the turnout. In case of a tie,contestants will have to face a rapid fire round. Results will be announced within the next half hour. FINALS: The selected participants will be given a situation on which they need to present their views and solutions. Seperate time slot of 5mins will be provided for thinking and for the presentation. Contestant coming up with the best views and solutions is declared the winner.

Event Format : a. Link of the template of the pitch is uploaded in the Crossroads website ad completed entries(templates) will be accepted by email [email protected] till February 19,2012. b.Based on the quality of the entries, participants will be intimated on February 20,2012 that their idea has been chosen to be presented/pitched at Crossroads on February 24,2012 at 9 am. Eligibility Criteria
1. All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in the event. 2. Students should carry their identity card at time of reporting.
Team Specification
A team may consist of a maximum of 3 members.
Machine Specifications
1. Robots should be made in such a way that it can be fit into 50 cm length x 50 cm breadth x 60 cm height box. 2. Maximum weight of robot should not more than 6 kg. 3. The machine should be controlled by a wireless remote control mechanism or wired one throughout the war. 4. If the machine is wired then the wire should remain slack under all circumstances during the competition. All the wires coming out of the machine should be stacked as single unit. The wires should be properly insulated. 5. Only DC Motors can be used.
Arena
The track details will be released only on the event day.
Game Rules
1. Maximum 8min for each war. The motive of each robot is to push the enemy out of the boundary lines to score. Team with maximum scores after the specified time will be declared as winners. 2. If the war does not end in 8min, a sumo-wrest round will be conducted, both robots will face each other and they have to push opponent, robot surviving in the arena will be declared as winner for that round. 3. If the participants are not present at the arena on the given time then that team will be disqualified. 4. Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be eliminated from the competition automatically. 5. The machines are not allowed to leave any loose parts on any part of the arena. 6. Only one operator is allowed to operate the machine. 7. The teams must adhere to the spirit of healthy competition. The teams must not damage the opponent's machine in any way. Judges have the right to disqualify any team indulged in misbehaviour.
Important Notes
1.The machine with projections, hydraulics, pneumatics, fire, electromagnets, any liquid fluids, etc. are not permitted to participate and will be disqualified. 2. Burning type of instruments is not allowed.
Judging Criteria
Judges decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.
Certificate Policy

1. Certificate of Excellence will be awarded to all winners. 2. Certificates of Participation will be given to all the teams that will participate in the event, but not to the teams which get disqualified due to disobeying any of the competition rules.

Rules
The paper must be presented by an individual or a two member team. The abstract of the paper must be sent to the selection committee on or before FEBRUARY 20, 2012. The following e-mail id may be used for the purpose: [email protected] The topic selected for the paper must be original and technically relevant. The papers are expected to in IEEE formats. The paper can be of maximum 15 pages. Each entrant will get 15 minutes to present their paper which will be followed by 5 minutes Q&A session. Evaluation is based on rule keeping, topic selection, the actual presentation, interaction with audience and the Q&A session. Decision of the selection committee and judges will be final and biding.

7. If the robot goes out of the arena, it can be brought to the respective position manually (maximum 2 times). The highest path traced by the robot is considered. Each time the robot goes out of the arena points gets reduced. 8. Timer runs even when robot leaves the line and is replaced. 9. Sharp objects on the robot which may damage or mark the arena will lead to disqualification of the team. 10. Readymade robotic wares are not allowed. 11. The event would be split up into four rounds as follows:Prelims: this round is the screening round. Each participant would be allotted 20 minutes to solve a set of 25 questions. Of these, 20 questions would have a marking scheme of +2 for each correct answer and -1 for each wrong answer. In addition, there would be five bonus questions having a point of +5 for correct answers and -3 for wrong answers. High scorers would be screened through for the next rounds. Group discussion: The participants would be split into groups and would be given relevant management related topics or current affairs to discuss about for 5 min. The third and fourth rounds would be surprise rounds, the details of which would be given on the spot. Participants would be given a total of 20 minutes to prepare themselves for these tasks. These rounds aim at testing the spontaneity, innovation and management skills of the participant. So watch out for the big challenge! The cumulative marks of the GD and the third and fourth rounds would be considered for declaring the final winners. The decision of the judges would be final and binding.

A team consists of two members. Prelims will be conducted if more than 7 groups participate. The prelims will be based upon logical aptitude type questions. This is a hunt in which you have to pass through seven check points. Check points are to be explored with the help of hints provided (no direct guidance will be given). Crack technical and logical aptitude questions at the check points. Expect physical barriers that you can opt at certain checkpoints which will give the same credit as that of questions there. Only one of the participants is allowed to perform the physical barrier. Judgment will be based on time taken, checkpoints explored and credits for the questions solved. Judges decision will be final. Any form of misconduct and indiscipline from the participants will result in termination of the concerned team from the participation.
