One of the most notable features is the extension wings fitted to the cast iron machine table, these give extra support to longer workpieces, especially when drilling near an edge. A pair of very useful light duty pillar drills for home use. Each is equipped with a 250W alloy motor, driving a 13mm keyless chuck with a choice of 5 speeds from 600 to 2,500rpm. Access to the belt and pulleys for speed changing is through the top cover which is equipped with a micro switch linked to the drive motor. The work tables can be tilted at 45-0-45 and are equipped with two slots for clamping the work, or a drill vice, to the table. The tables can be swung out of the way to allow larger items to be mounted directly onto the base casting. Cast iron quill handles. Chuck travel 50mm. N.B. A woodworkers version of our exceptional ED16SB engineers pillar drill. Identical in every way with the exception of there being a traditional round table rather than a square engineers table. This pillar drill offers much more power than is normally found with small bench mounted pillar drills, plus it has just the right amount of extra depth and throat under the chuck as well. Fitted with a cool running 370W alloy motor and with 5 belt speeds, it has a good range of capabilities. A precision 3-16mm keyless chuck is fitted. The table height adjustment is by a rack and pinion system, not the usual slide and clamp method found on small machines. A cast iron one piece hand control handle feeds a rugged quill with a 2MT internal taper for use with traditional morse taper augers. Smaller and lighter than larger units such as our WD16B model, this pillar drill is perfect for the woodworker or woodturner requiring a decent quality pillar drill in a small workshop. N.B. The morticing attachment will not fit this machine.
The WD range of drills, available in either bench or floor models, is suitable for woodworking applications in the home or light trade environment. They are fitted with our 3-16mm keyless precision chuck and Euro-style no-volt-release switch. Axminster AWBRD550 & AWFSRD550 Bench Radial Drills
This is a truly universal drilling machine that will be an asset to any home workshop. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of the machine is the variable drilling width capacity of between 220mm and 420mm, measured from the centre line of the chuck to the front face of the column. This gives a maximum drilling width well above normal drill press capacity which, coupled with the ability to vary the drilling angle, gives the machine a high degree of versatility. The horizontal movement of the head is controlled by a rack and pinion system which can be firmly locked in position. Tilting is easily achieved by undoing a locking knob at the top of the column, setting the required angle against a scale and re-locking the knob. There is a positive locating pin which runs in a keyway on the horizontal bar to ensure that the head returns exactly to the vertical. The 550W induction motor drives the drilling head, equipped with a 16mm keyless chuck through a V belt and a choice of five pulleys giving a speed range of (5) 500-2,450rpm. One word of warning - the chuck is located in the drive quill with the conventional Morse taper which requires axial loading to keep it securely in place; if the head is used in the horizontal position in conjunction with a sanding drum or polishing mop there is a risk of the chuck coming loose. The machine comes complete with 16mm keyless drill chuck and chuck guard. Column diameter is 60mm and it has a solid cast iron handle. N.B. That this machine is not suitable for use with a morticing attachment.

Axminster Pillar Drill Table Morticing Attachment

This attachment offers a simple and convenient way of converting a pillar drill into a lightweight morticing machine, provided that the collar diameter (the part where the chuck guard normally fits) is either 65mm, 60mm or 55mm. Best mounted on to an MDF base plate (not supplied), the attachment works well once the mortice bits have been cut down to a length to suit the pillar drill being used. When installing the chisel and bit together, ensure that there is a minimum of 1.5mm of clearance between the bit and the chisel and that the bit is securely tightened to avoid damage to the chisel. The attachment has a 65mm mounting diameter and is supplied with an adaptor which allows for fitting to 60 or 55mm diameter collars. Takes 3/4 shank chisel and bits. Pillar drills are generally constructed with a bias towards metal drilling, and dont quite fully meet the needs of the woodworker. The Axminster Pillar Drill Table helps to redress the balance by increasing the work area and making drilling safer and more accurate. The MDF base board, which bolts to the slots in the drill table, measures 610 x 305 x 25mm and an aluminium extrusion forms a full length, 75mm high fence. This fence features adjustable fence plates, a repeat stop, L&R self adhesive scales and a rear dust extraction port 62.5mm o/d. Two T-slots at 270mm centres are provided with material clamps and can be used for fixing custom made drilling jigs for repeatable accuracy, morticing etc. In the centre of the base is a removable sacrificial insert. When using the pillar drill with a bobbin sander attachment, make an insert with a central hole and by lowering and raising the quill full use can be made of the abrasive, plus the table will give all round close support. The Axminster Pillar Drill Table extends the functions of the machine and makes it far more woodworker friendly.

This sub table will very much increase the useability of a pillar drill and bring many tasks onto this machine. Based on a faced MDF board with alloy T-tracks in two axis across the table, the sub table is available in two sizes to accommodate most pillar drills. There is a 60 x 75mm sacrificial infill plate which should be positioned under the machines chuck to allow through drilling. When using the pillar drill with a bobbin sander attachment, make an insert with a central hole and, by lowering and raising the quill, full use can be made of the abrasive, plus the table will give all round close support. There are infill replacements available in packs of three. A neat extruded alloy fence is available as an option, along with a choice of two different types of clamps, a simple hand version or a toggle type clamp, both sitting in the T-tracks to allow them to be positioned exactly where you need them. A fitting kit is provided to fit the sub table to the machines table and allow easy removal if required. This is a great way to make full use of a pillar drill in any workshop.

Stayput Extraction Hose Axminster Fence for Deluxe Pillar Drill Tables
A neat extruded alloy fence for the Deluxe Pillar Drill Tables. Mounted on a steel carrier plate and with an extending length stop and individually movable fence sections. The length stop can be extended to 825mm from the centre line and can be mounted on either side of the fence. A 38mm diameter steel dust extraction hood can be connected to a suitable vacuum extractor for clean working. Could also be used as a simple router table fence for moulding work. This is a semi-rigid hose which stays put when bent into shape. Amongst its various properties is its ability to change diameter over a range of about plus or minus 20mm when twisted in either clockwise or anti-clockwise directions. This means that a short length suitably adjusted for diameter can be used to adapt between hoses and machine outlets of different sizes. Another useful application is as a dust collector on a lathe or a benchmounted machine with a short length of the hose being connected to the end of the extractor hose and positioned close to where the dust is generated. Available in grey only, diameter of 102mm(4) in lengths of 1 metre.

Solid and very well made, the drill has a number of unique features that put it in a class of its own. The machine is supplied complete with its own cabinet stand and a useful storage cupboard. To improve the stability of the machine, the base is extended out by some 125mm and into this extension is placed an emergency foot switch that, when pressed, cuts the power to the drill. The fixed table is more stable than the more usual tilting version; angled holes can be accurately drilled using a tilting vice secured on the table with tee bolts in the two 12mm T-slots milled in the table. A substantial jacking handle smoothly raises and lowers the head with the column going down into the cabinet base (the interior of the cabinet is partitioned and the column is accessible by removing a cover plate at the rear of the machine). The drilling head has a 120mm spindle travel with depth gauge and heavy duty lock to ensure that depth settings can be locked firmly. Unlike many other similar drills, the Axminster SIEG X0 is solidly made and has a hefty cast iron base, making it stable and free from vibration. Compound Table for Micro Drill

A robustly made cast iron compound table for the Axminster Micro Drill or any other small drill. The work table, which measures 90 x 200mm, has three 8mm wide T slots for securing the work; it has a travel of 55mm either side of the central position, indicated by a scale along the front edge. Fore-and-aft travel is 70mm. Both leadscrews have a 1mm pitch and the control wheels have 50 sub-divisions, giving a movement of 0.02mm per graduation. The base has six 6.3mm diameter mounting holes and the overall height of the table is 63mm. A well made piece of equipment with many uses around the engineers workshop.
Proxxon KT 70 MICRO Compound Table

Made of solid aluminium with surface treatment and fitted with adjustable dovetail gibs and three T-slots of the MICROMOT standard (12 x 6 x 5mm). Adjustable ruler eases workpiece positioning. Both handwheels have zero-resettable dials with graduations indicating 1 revolution = 1.0mm and 1 division = 0.05mm. Axminster Super Precision Drill Chucks

Two super precision chucks with excellent run out and outstanding torque transmission characteristics for use in pillar drills or lathes. Proxxon Precision Steel Vice Axminster CT1 Compound Table

A well made cast iron, two axes compound table with two T slots of 58mm spacing along its length and a fine ground finish. The 475 x 155mm table has excellent travel in both directions and is fitted with adjustable gibs to take up the slack in the slides. Calibration of the wheels is in imperial units; one complete revolution of the wheels moves the table 0.1 in. and there are subdivisions around each wheel which allow for more precise adjustment of the table travel. Although not a precision device, the cross table is nevertheless a useful aid for drilling patterns of holes and similar jobs and is accurate enough for most nonprecision purposes. The T slots are 15mm wide at the table surface, opening out to 20mm wide by 10mm deep for the bolt head. The base is 200 x 270mm, the longer dimension being at right angles to the table. The base slots are 60mm apart, and the table travels are 280mm lengthwise and 155mm fore and aft. Height is 125mm and weight 23.5kg. The precision vice is milled in steel. It may be used on its side or on its back. The jaw width is 60mm with a maximum clamping capacity of 42mm. Supplied complete with securing bolts and packed in a wooden box.

Veritas Tapered Gauges

A tapered gauge gets its accuracy by effectively stretching any scale for accurate reading. These stretch the standard scale by a factor of seven. When a thickness difference of 3mm is stretched over 22mm of the scale, small differences in thickness can easily be measured with fine accuracy. The aluminum gauges can be used many ways: for setting fences, router bits and drill-press stops, as well as making any gap easy to measure and, therefore, easy to fill, if you happen to be repairing work. Hard anodised, a process that makes the surface as hard to scratch as tool steel, yet leaves it easy to write on with a pencil. In most uses accurate to 0.05mm, they are guaranteed to have no greater error than 0.125mm in any measurement. Supplied in metric with 0.2mm graduations, with fine tips (0.8mm thick) and measure up to 28mm thickness. Supplied in a case.

Axminster 3-Way Unigrip Vertical/Horizontal Drill Vice
A three position drilling vice with ground faces and slideways for accurate and precise operation. The jaws have triangular grooves for gripping circular items, both horizontally and vertically, and there are recesses in the tops of the jaws for gripping smaller items. In order to save space on the drill table the handle is held captive in the frame and the lead screw retracts into it as the jaws are opened. The vice has three machined mounting faces, each equipped with clamping slots or holes, which allow holes to be drilled at right angles to each other without the need to reposition the work.

This is an excellent entry level vice for drill press and light duty milling. This vice is carried on a swivel base which allows 360 rotation. The 100mm jaws with a 75mm capacity allow for most light drilling and milling operations. The base of the vice has two 10mm wide slots allowing the vice to be fitted squarely to the table of the machine.
A most useful clamp for any pillar drill, especially when drilling awkward metal components. The toggle action can really apply a huge amount of pressure to the work to ensure it stays exactly where its put. The clamps are particularly useful for securing awkward items where a vice is not really suitable and, of course, can be used in a host of different applications, not just on pillar drills. Colt Twinland Lip & Spur Wood Drill Bits

The Colt Twinland Lip and Spur Wood drills are produced in Germany to the highest standard using an alloy tool steel. The drill points are ground with diamond wheels to a conventional lip and spur pattern. The centre point allows you to position the bit precisely on a previously marked spot before the drilling commences and it also prevents skidding across the surface when the side cutters move into the wood. The bits have a Twinland flute design which has two advantages. The extra land surface guarantees improved guidance when hand drilling even with minimal depth and it also prevents wood chips squeezing between the drill bit and the drilled hole, thereby eliminating burning and scorch marks.

Axminster Short Pattern Forstner Bits

Forstner, or pattern makers bits are unlike any other type of boring bit in that they are guided by their rims and centre point. Holes bored with a Forstner are clean, accurate and flat bottomed. Only a Forstner will bore half a hole on the edge of a board, or overlapping holes. Being flat bottomed they are often used for inlays in veneer work. TiN coated for long life with 3/8 shanks.
Bosch Quick Release 152mm Extension (1/4 Fitting)

This extension is 152mm in length and will take 1/4 hex fittings. Designed for the Bosch flat bit range, it will also fit other bits with a 1/4 hex. Simply snap the extension onto the 1/4 hex and the pull back collar to release.

Sawtooth Cutter Shank Extension

Manufactured in our own CNC workshops, the sawtooth extension allows a 1/2 or 13mm shanked sawtooth cutter to be used for deeper boring. This is especially useful when making pepper mills and similar items. Carefully machined to be a precision fit, the extension adds a further 150mm to the length of the sawtooth cutter. Please note that these extensions cannot be used with sawtooth bits less than 23mm in diameter.

The first 3mm of the plug is to the stated size, the rest gradually increases in diameter at about 3. The result is a plug that will sit perfectly in a counterbored hole with just a light tap home. If using the same timber and the grain is orientated correctly, after trimming the plug should be practically invisible. These plug cutters are Titanium Nitride coated for wear resistance and longevity. When cutting plugs from a piece of timber we recommend using in a drill press or power drill in a suitable drill stand, then simply pop them out of the board with a screwdriver. Veritas Plugger Plug Cutting Kit

A perfect plugged finish starts with a top quality drill bit, a plug requires a smooth, round hole. For an almost invisible finish, a tapered plug is a must. Finally, to trim off the excess as neatly as possible a flexible, Japanese style toothed saw which wont mark the surrounding surface. The set consists of a 10mm tapered plug cutter, a 10mm Colt HSS-M2 L&S drill bit and a Veritas double edged flush cut saw. With a 16 taper this reaming bit lets you easily restore stripped screw holes. Used in a hand drill, it reams the hole, which you then plug with a dowel (or scrap of wood) sharpened to a point, for example using a pencil sharpener. It works equally well preparing holes for decorative plugging. By adjusting the depth control on a drill press, you can ream to whatever size you want, letting you easily make holes for plugs of any size up to 10mm(3/8) diameter. Plugs are almost costless since they can be made quickly in a pencil sharpener from shop scraps. For restoring screw holes, instead of drilling a pilot hole in the center of a dowel, use one of the included 10 pre-drilled dowels (leadless pencils).

Sometimes when plugging holes, no matter how carefully drilled, the holes finish up slightly oversize for the plug, especially in soft woods. These cabinet makers snug plug cutters overcome this by cutting a slightly tapered plug. The first 3mm of the plug is the diameter stated whilst the remaining length is then flared out at an angle of 3. Just tap the plug into place until you meet resistance then cut off the excess. Also, unlike regular plug cutters which have two cutting flutes, these plug cutters have four, giving a much cleaner cut and a smooth-sided plug which fits perfectly every time and is practically invisible. For best results use in a drill press or power drill stand.

Veritas Mini Tenon Cutters

Developed for smaller diameter tenon cutting for use with small stock. They are available in cutting diameters from 5/16 to 9/16 . The 9/16 tenon is the size used historically for chair rungs. The 1/2 size is useful in many areas, e.g. members within trellis or lattice work. All the sizes have a straight blade that cuts a 60 shoulder tenon (not a radiused shoulder tenon as on the larger sizes). The 5/16 cut tenons up to 1 long, and the 1/2 and 9/16 cut tenons up to 1.3/8 long. A plug gauge is included for easy blade setting. 3/8 round shank. Patented. Veritas Dowel Cutters

Obtaining dowels to perfectly match a project or specific species of timber, is to say the least, almost impossible. Not so if you own a Veritas Dowel cutter and have a few timber off-cuts to hand. These cutters can be used two ways. Either use them like a handheld pencil sharpener, to put accurate tenons on the tips of turnings or on rustic furniture components. Alternatively using a cordless drill, you need only cut square stock slightly oversize (1.5mm is ample) and use a square socket (with a 3/8 square drive to 1/4 hex adaptor) to power the stock through the dowel cutter. The carbon-steel blade in the plated zinc-alloy body is adjustable. Works equally well in soft, green or hard woods. The curved blade is relatively easy to sharpen when required. Imperial sizes only available 3/8(9.5mm), 7/16(11mm) & 1/2(12.7mm) use the 1/2 drive socket for the 3/8 & 7/16 sizes and the 5/8 drive socket for the 1/2 dowel. Dowel Cutters made in Canada. Lie-Nielsen Dowel Plates

The right tool to choose if you wish to make exact sized dowels from any solid timber. The dowel plate is a rectangle 130mm(5.1/8) x 38mm(1.1/2), 6.3mm(1/4) thick of surface ground A-2 cryogenically treated tool steel, a very humble looking but nonetheless a very precise tool. The holes are machined with a 6 clearance on the underside but are straight for the first 0.025 The tool can be sharpened many times without . any change in the size of the holes, but quite frankly at 60 Rockwell it is doubtful whether it will ever need sharpening. Both metric and imperial plates are available, to cut 3mm, 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm & 16mm dowels or 1/8 3/16 1/4 5/16 3/8 , , , , , 1/2 & 5/8 in imperial sizes. These are indispensable tools when it comes to making rustic furniture, where there is a necessity to produce clean round tenons with smoothly radiused shoulders on the ends of sticks, branches, or more formal stock if you wish. With typical Veritas attention to detail, anodised aluminium bodies are accurately balanced to run smoothly in a hand-held power drill, though they work just as smoothly in a bit brace. The cutters are easily resharpened with a drum sander mounted in a drill press, using a honing guide built into each tenon cutter. Sizes 16mm(5/8), 19mm(3/4), 22mm(7/8) and 25mm(1) have 905mm(3/8) hex shanks and cut tenons up to 70mm(2.3/4) long. 32mm(1.1/4), 38mm(1.1/2), 44mm(1.3/4) and 50mm(2) sizes have 13mm(1/2) hex shanks; they cut serious tenons up to 108mm(4.1/4) long, suitable for beds, heavy chairs, and other large-scale construction. The clear polycarbonate dust shield has two main functions. It collects debris, dust and chippings, which is particularly important when working overhead. It also acts as a guide ensuring that the drill bit is always at right angles to the work surface. The boring head passes through a large ball race bearing so runs very smoothly. Armeg EBS Tri-Cut Single Box Sinker Set

Safe and simple, this must be the fastest method possible to produce a square hole in masonry for electrical sockets or switch boxes. Drill a 6mm hole in the centre boxs intended location, and then with an SDS+ hammer drill set to rotary/hammer, use the round cutter to remove the bulk of the waste to the desired depth. Set the drill to the hammer only setting and use the square cutter to take out the corners, leaving a near perfect square recess for the electric box in a matter of minutes. The E.B.S Single Box Sinker Set features a Tri-Cut round cutter. Its design, with three cutting edges increases the product life and provides maximum performance in the hardest materials. Three cutting wings reduce vibration giving the user more comfort and balance during drilling. Single set Contains: E.B.S Tri-Cut complete with Dust Collector, E.B.S Square Hole Cutter, Hard Material Chisel and a Pilot Drill. Unlike conventional core bits, these are made with very thin walls and therefore cut a much thinner line out of the material. As a consequence they use much less power and can be used with lighter drills. The pilot drill fits into the end of the adaptor with a spring-loaded ball bearing locator and the core drill then screws onto the adaptor, resulting in a rigid assembly. There is a choice of either SDS or hexagon adaptors, depending on the type of drill being used, and two lengths, 100mm for an overall length of 165mm and 300mm giving an overall length of 365mm. To remove the core bits from the adaptors we recommend the use of the tommy bar - (available separately) with its specially profiled end. Made in Sheffield. N.B. Suitable for all mains drills with a 43mm diameter collar, these are convenient aids for accurate drilling of vertical holes. Typical applications are dowel drilling or kitchen door hinges, which need an accurately located and square recess. A vee groove in the base gives accurate location of round items. The guide rods can be set to protrude beyond the level of the base, so the guide can be used to automatically centre on an edge, very useful when undertaking tasks such as drilling a door in order to fit a lock for example.

These dry diamond core bits are of superior design and high quality manufacture. They are suitable for use on lightweight building materials, ordinary facing brickwork and blockwork up to 10N/ sq mm. These cores give rapid, clean service entries with virtually no making good required. The cores thread onto an adaptor, either with a SDS or Hex shank to suit your drill chuck. The adaptor can be fitted with a pilot drill to guide the core. For deep holes, a 200mm extension adaptor is available. For maximum safety and efficiency use a drill of at least 850W with a rigid side handle and fitted with an integral slipping clutch. One easy way to get started with any of the diamond cores is to purchase the six piece accessory kit, which includes all of the items one may ever need to use including an extension for deeper holes. This two part threaded drill guide can be fixed into a piece of MDF by boring a 20mm hole in the jig and screwing the guide bush in place. Drill a 12mm dowel hole, unscrew and reposition on the opposite side to drill the mirror hole for accurate dowelling. The jig is used as a positioning guide, more than one guide bush can be used. Suitable for duplicate holes, the simple design of this guide makes it ideal for many tasks including aligning dowels when jointing worktops. Sold individually. Axminster Drawer Pull Installation Jig

The drawer pull installation jig is designed for the kitchen fitter or cabinetmaker. For consistently accurate results when fitting drawer or cupboard handles a jig is a must. Most off-the-shelf jigs are designed for production use and are generally beyond economic sense for a small workshop or fitter. This jig is supplied complete with an aluminium rail, adjustable stop block, Perspex marking guide, paper template and an automatic centre punch. The marking guide is pre-drilled with 6 common pull centres and a centre hole for single fixing cabinet knobs. The jig is fully adjustable and can be used on drawers or cupboard doors from 180mm to 990mm wide.
A very clever jig that allows you to very accurately position holes and mirror on an opposite member if required for dowelling. Simple to look at and use the secret is in the precision with which the jig has been made that ensures accurate hole position every time.
Veritas Hinge-Boring Jig

Drilling 35mm holes for cabinet hinges is usually done on a specially jigged drill press in a small shop, or on a very expensive machine in a large workshop. This hand-held boring jig outperforms both in its speed and its versatility. The precision-cast aluminum alloy frame incorporates a depth-adjustable carbidetipped bit with outlining spurs for clean holes in solid wood, veneers, or melamine-covered material. The micrometer fence screws let you dial any backset up to 12mm, and an integral rule makes it easy to set the depth of cut up to 16mm; both dimensions cover all 35mm cup hinges available. In addition, a set of spacers, which let you drill for flap hinges (with breakout up to 10mm), is included. The 1/4 hex drive lets you use a quick-change chuck or a hex-head socket powered by an electric drill. The stop rod is usable left or right handed. The base plate is countersunk for most common cup-hinge screw holes; these can be drilled quickly using the same fence and rod stop settings as used for the cup holes. The base plate also contains a pair of countersinks spaced 32mm apart for drilling hinge mounting-plate holes on the inside of cabinets.
A network of holes in the jig and pins are used as reference stops against your work so no matter what the shape the hole position can be repeated. Simply choose the correct drill bush and screw this into the jig so that it will guide your drill bit. Once drilled, remove pins and bushes, relocate in the same holes, protruding from opposite side of the plate, this then guides the plate and drill in place for an exact mirror hole position. Souber DBB Mortice Lock Fitting Jig (JIG1)

This very precise drilling jig is designed specifically to guide the drilling bit to cut mortices for door locks and their face plates. It is quick and simple to set up, self centring and locks onto the door edge securely. It really is a simple process: mark the lock length on to the door, select the width of mortice cutter that suits your lock, set the depth collar, pass the drill shaft through the jigs guide bush, lock the jig to the door and using power from your drill, drive the carbide tipped mortice cutter into the door moving up and down; repeat process for the faceplate. This produces a very clean smooth cut and is one of the fastest most accurate ways to cut a mortice. You can also use it to cut hinges. Power drill with a 13mm chuck running at speeds 2,000 - 3,000 rpm is recommended. Supplied with 3 special carbide tipped cutters, 19, 22 and 25mm covering the most popular lock widths, shaft for lock up to 100mm in depth and carry case. Other optional accessories available including: offset housing kit, longer drill shafts and long drill kit to drill through the end of a door to fit electric locks accurately.
Souber Long Wood Drills for Lock Jig

These extra long drills are especially designed for the Souber lock jig to be used with the long arbor. 10mm in diameter in either 950mm or 1,250mm lengths, they will drill extremely straight and true from one side of a door to the other. N.B. Please ensure the drill is withdrawn at regular intervals to clear waste material.
Very deep drilling is also possible with the Souber lock jig, this long adaptor replaces the standard arbor shaft ensuring that the drill is supported and guided as much as possible to fit electric locks etc. Two long drills are available separately.
