01.Introduction of Lanka Sugar Company
Lanka Sugar Company (Pvt) Ltd (LSCPL) is a fully government-owned company under the Ministry
of Plantation Industries and Export Agriculture. The government took over both Pelwatta and
Sevanagala factories through an act under the revival of under-performing enterprises or
underutilized assets, Act No.43 of 2011” on 11th November 2011. The Sevanagala Sugar Factory was
situated in Uva province Monaragala District, Wallewaya Electorate under Thanamalwila Pradeshiya
Sabha and Divisional Secretariate of sevanagala. Sugar Factory In 1986, Sevanagala Sugar Project,
was announced as a company for sugarcane cultivation, sugar production, and distillery unit under
Sri Lanka Sugar Corporation. Sevanagala Sugar Factory Has 1200 employees and its daily sugar
production capacity is 1250 metric tons. And it is now the second-largest sugar producer in Sri Lanka.

14. Conclusion
• There are mainly four departments and we were monitoring the HR department and the Factory
department. I had studded more information in the about HR department.
• Mainly sugar is produced and in addition products and in addition products such as Co2, CH2CH2OH are
also produced.
• As the previous General Manager has retired, no General Manager has been appointed in this company at present.
• This organization is largely a profit-making organization and its main purpose is to improve the social welfare of
the people.
• The electricity required for this institution is not obtained from outside and the electricity required by the high heat
from the combustion of coal and the turbines are operated and electricity is produced. This is an energy saving
