The first candle of the Advent wreath, the Candle of Hope, represents the
promise of God’s salvation and the hope we have in Jesus Christ. It is a
reminder that, even as we wait, we can trust in the faithful promises of God.
Lighting of the Candle
Now I request. .........to light the first candle of advent
VIDEO -candle of hope
As we reflect on hope, let us listen to the Scripture reading.
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the
land of deep darkness, a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)
Reflection...
This verse assures us that no matter how uncertain life may seem, God’s light
and promises bring hope to all. Let us hold onto this hope as we enter this
season of waiting and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.
ACTIVITY
Let us take a moment of quiet reflection during this Advent season, a time of
hope, joy, and anticipation. Each of us carries a wish in our hearts—a hope for
ourselves, our loved ones, or the world around us.
I invite each of you to write your deepest wish on a piece of paper. Once
you’ve written it, fold it, and come forward to staple it together with the
others. We will then drop all our wishes into this earthen pot, symbolizing our
trust in God’s power to make them bloom like seeds planted in fertile soil.
Let us pray over these wishes, not only for our own but also for each other's
hopes to come true during this magical season of Advent. May this simple act
remind us of the faith, love, and unity we share as we wait for the coming of
Christ.

CAROL
Concluding prayer
Oh God our loving father, help us rightly to remember the birth of Jesus, that
we may share the song of angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and the
worship of wise men. Close, the door of hate and open the door of love all over
the world. Let kindness, come with every gift and good desires with every
greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us
to be merry with pure hearts.
Amen.
