WRITING

1. Write a proposal (120 -150 words) about organizing an ASEAN festival at your school.
We would like to propose an ASEAN Poster Making Event to welcome new students from ASEAN
countries. The event will be a great opportunity to promote ASEAN awareness and encourage cultural exchange
among the students.
The event will take place on 15 May 2024, at Le Khiet High School. The program will include training
workshops on poster design, presentations on current issues in ASEAN, and a poster design competition. The
event will be open to all ASEAN students in Quang Ngai.
The event will help the students to meet and build a community with their peers from other ASEAN
countries. It will also provide a platform for them to develop their skills in poster design and increase their
awareness of current issues in the region.
We really hope you will consider our proposal as we believe it will be an exciting and valuable event for
all ASEAN students in Quang Ngai. Thank you for your attention.

2. Write an essay (120 -150 words) to express your opinion about the statement “Living in an extended
family helps bridge the generation gap”. You can either agree or disagree with it.
In my opinion, living with extended family can indeed help bridge the generation gap.
When different generations live under the same roof, they have the opportunity to share ideas, values,
and experiences with one another. This constant interaction allows them to understand each other better,
fostering mutual respect for their differences. For instance, old generations can impart traditional values and
wisdom to younger members, while younger generations can introduce modern perspectives and technologies to
the elder.
However, it is also important to acknowledge the potential downsides. There can be disagreements or
even conflicts between different generations due to different viewpoints and lifestyles. Moreover, maintaining
healthy family relationships can become challenging when there are too many people involved.
Nevertheless, I believe that these challenges can be overcome with open communication, understanding,
and respect. Thus, despite some difficulties, living with extended family can be a valuable way to bridge the
generation gap.

SPEAKING
Topic 1. Talk about how to live a long and healthy life
Staying healthy is very important to all of us. To do this, we should follow these tips. Firstly, a balanced
and nutritious diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains is vital for the body. We should also
consume healthy fats, like those found in nuts and seeds. In addition, drinking plenty of water every day can
help flush out toxins from the body. Secondly, we must avoid bad habits like smoking and excessive alcohol
consumption as they can lead to serious health problems. Instead, developing good habits such as getting
enough sleep and exercising regularly is crucial in maintaining good health. Last but not least, regular check-
ups with a healthcare professional can also help detect health problems early and prevent them from becoming
more serious.
QUESTIONS
1. Do you always do exercise every morning?
Yes, but often, not always
2. Do you think that taking regular exercise and eating a balanced diet are the key to a long and healthy
life?
Yes, I think so. They are two of the best ways to have a long and healthy life.
3. What are the benefits of doing exercise every morning?
Doing exercise every morning helps us to keep fit, make us healthier and refresh our mind and gives us
more energy for a new day. It is also very good for all of the parts in our body.
Topic 2. What are the most common generation gaps in your family?
There are some common generation gaps between the old and the young generations.
The first one is communication styles. Different generations may have different preferences for
communication. For example, older generations might prefer face-to-face or phone conversations, while
younger generations may rely more on text messages, social media, or video calls.
Another generation gap is values and beliefs. Each generation is shaped by the events and cultural
influences of their time, leading to differences in values and beliefs. This can lead to disagreements on topics
such as politics, religion, or social issues.
What is more, generational differences can also be seen in attitudes towards work and career. Older
generations may prioritize stability and loyalty to a single company, while younger generations tend to value
flexibility, work-life balance, and opportunities for personal growth.
Last but not least, each generation has its own fashion trends and styles, which can sometimes lead to
differences in taste and preferences between family members. It's important to remember that these are
generalizations, and not all families will experience the same generation gaps. Building understanding,
empathy, and open communication can help bridge these gaps and foster stronger relationships within the
family.
QUESTIONS
1. What is the generation gap?
Generation gap is the differences of outlook or opinion between people of different generations.
2. Is there a generation gap in your family?
Yes, there is. My parents and we, children, sometimes have different thoughts about clothes, future jobs and
behaviors.
3. Do you have to learn to accept the differences between the generations? What?
I think it depends. Sometimes I have to accept the differences, but sometimes I should voice my opinions. We
should discuss frankly to find out the best solutions.

Topic 3. Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of living in a smart city.
Living in a smart city is not always a good thing. So what are the pros and cons of living in a smart city?
On the one hand, smart cities are very modern. Smart technologies make people’s lives easier by
reducing household chores. In addition, the city infrastructure with sensors and cameras collects information
about people and their activities, and uses it to provide faster, cheaper and better services.
On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks. Without training, city dwellers find it difficult to use
some smart technologies. People have limited privacy because of cameras everywhere in public spaces.
Personal information might be stolen and city dwellers might become victims of cybercrime.
In conclusion, living in a smart city has both advantages and disadvantages. Whether you like to live
there or not depends on your considerations.
QUESTIONS
1. Would you like to live in a smart city? Why / why not?
Yes. As a young person, I would like to access to modern technologies, so I really want to live in a smart
city. A smart city offers us many benefits despite some drawbacks.
2. Which of the disadvantage you mentioned do you think is the most serious? Why?
I think the most serious is that our privacy is limited. And I am also afraid that our personal information
can be leaked.
