1. SCOPE

The purpose of this procedure is to lay requirements and to establish a method to control the Cable tray
and Accessories installation activities to be carried out in the Construction of in BIAL Terminal 2 project
with reference to Approved Drawings, Technical Specifications and Standards.

2. ACTIVITIES

 Procurement of the material such as Cable tray & Accessories


 Mobilization of manpower and tools & tackles
 Installation of Cable tray along with required accessories
 Witnessing the work by BIAL team

3. REFERENCE

This method statement prepared based on the following:

This approval is taken for the entire usage of Cable tray works in T2, CUP, and East Gate House
& External Utilities.
 Ref.Standards:
B.S. Compliance: comply with EN ISO 1449, Part 1: 1991 or equivalent for sheet
steel and
EN ISO 1461:1999 for galvanizing.

5. RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY

 Project Director is wholly responsible for all the process and he will liaison with customer for
smooth operation of the project & process as and when required.
 Project Manager is responsible to coordinate for resources; liaising with Engineering In-Charge,
planning department, execution team for smooth operation; and is responsible to ensure the
implementation of all quality & safety parameters related to the process.
 Construction Manager is responsible to carry out construction activities in proper sequence as
per GFC drawings and to organize/ confirm the availability of resources to complete the work in
time, safely and with quality
 Planning Engineer is responsible for planning the sequence of works, organizing resources &
monitoring the actual progress with respect to the planned progress.
 Site Engineer will check the availability of GFC drawings, Method statements and will be
responsible to carry out the works in proper sequence as per GFC drawings and to organize/
confirm the availability of resources to complete the work in time, safely and with quality.
 QA/QC Manager is responsible to organize the relevant inspections & tests as per ITP and
ensure quality at every stage of work.
 The EHS Manager is responsible to monitor the system compliance and identify the hazards/
deviation and appraise the concerned for to take immediate corrections & corrective actions, to
examine the risk / hazard for this particular activity and to prepare a plan to eliminate the risk

along with Risk assessment team (team includes execution engineers, EHS team and interested
parties).

6. METHODOLOGY
6.1 Procurement of the material for the Cable Trays/Raceways:

 Cable tray and its accessories as per Approved Material Approval Request (MAR)

6.2 Storage of Materials:

 Unload materials at Site and shift to Stores.

 All the materials procured on site should be along with test certificates. Physical inspection should be
done for every batch of material delivered and MIR should be ensured.

 After MIR client signoff Issue the materials from stores as per site requirements.

 All cable trays materials shall be stored in proper manner with necessary protection.

 Rack arrangements to be followed if necessary.

 All cable trays to be kept with ground clearance and proper protection.

Preparation Work :

 Take appropriate Permits / Clearances for installation of materials and usage of machines as
required.

 Proper Scaffolding to be made ready as per safety standard.

 Check work area is clean and safe.

 Ensure Availability of approved drawing at site

 Ensure approved materials availability at site.

 Check the cable trays for any physical damage if pre-fabricated.

 Ensure necessary platforms, tower ladders, scaffolding another safety measures.

 Study the Approved GFC Drawing for locations and routing.

 Mark the locations of the following items for installation

 Cable tray size to be as per Approved drawing and Route the cable tray.

 Use the approved make of Anchor faster.

 Before the commencement of installation of the cables trays, the following are required to be carried
out

 Check that all the allocated cable routes are ready with the supports and free from blockage.

 All necessary supports and tray shall be fabricated as per the approved drawings.

 Cable Tray earthing should be done as per the approved drawing.

 Cable Tray should not run below water line.

 Erection of fabricated / prefabricated trays and supports at site locations shall be done as per layout
drawings using necessary platforms, tower ladders, scaffolding another safety measures.

 Check the cable trays for any physical damage if pre-fabricated.

 Cable tray fabricated of hot dip galvanized for outdoor (ladder/perforated types) with covers.

 Supports to be fixed as per approved drawing/ specification

 Separate cable tray shall be provided for HT, LT and Control cable and distance between HT/LT/ELV
cable trays as per approved drawings.

 Cable trays shall be placed on cable tray supports as per the requirement/drawing which is to be
properly clamped with the supports.

 Splice plate/ Coupling Plate shall be placed on outside of cable tray, unless otherwise specified by
manufacturer, with the bolts head on the inside of cable tray.

 Cable tray bends shall be used readymade or site fabricated as per requirement.

 Joint coupling plates with suitable nut bolt with washer

 All the trays and supports are aligned properly with water level and supports are anchored with
fasteners.

 Inspection request to be raised for client checking.

Installation of Floor Race Way :

 Mark Locations of Raceways on Floor / Walls, as per the approved drawings.


 Cut the floor with Floor chipping machine upto the required depth along the locations
marked as per approved shop drawings if required with civil co ordination /approval.
 Remove and store the concrete debris at site location allotted and marked by client.
 Clean the chiseled routes and locations properly prior to raceway installations.
 Place the Raceway & Junction Boxes on the floor and clamp to the floor end.
 The top level of raceway shall be at least 15 mm below the finished floor level.
 Before refilling ensure all JB race way joints are properly covered . Under-floor raceway
& Junction box after installation work should be refilled the floor with cement plaster
finish.
 To cut the Raceway, use piercing saw or hand grinder with abrasive cut-off wheels.
Ensure that Raceway cutting ends smoothen by filling.
 Check alignment and packing of junction boxes.
 Inspection request to be raised for client checking.

Installation of Celling Race way:

 Mark Locations & Route of Raceways & Junction Boxes on the ceiling.
 Drill holes in ceiling slab for inserting & fixing approved Anchor Fasteners.

 Insert Anchor Fasteners in the hole & fix


 Fix Horizontal supports / channels to Hi-tech rods by using nuts & Bolts.
 All the trays and supports are aligned properly with water level and supports are
anchored with fasteners.
 Place Raceways on the supports.
 Joint coupling plates with suitable nut bolt with washer
 Place the cover after completion of wire/cable laying.
 Check the tightness & alignment of Race ways
 Inspection request to be raised for client checking.

Cable Tray Supporting System:

Cable Tray Tier systems & Vertical cable tray supporting system will be as per approved
drawings specification/dimensions.

7. QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL

The works will be carried out as per the project specification & approved project quality plan. Quality
Assurance and Quality Control will mainly involve the following:

 Follow the construction procedure as per the approved Method Statement.


 Only Approved Materials to be used
 Field Checks, Inspections & materials testing is carried out as per the approved
Inspection & Test Plan.
 Checklist for the activities & records to be maintained.
 Ensure quality requirements are made aware to site execution staff by means of Quality
Induction and/or Pep Talk.
 Training for Staff & Workers
 Maintain QA QC records as required.

8. HEALTH SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

The entire works will be carried out as per the guidelines established in the Project HSE Plan.
Utmost importance shall be given to safety of personnel and protection of services. It will be
ensured that the personnel involved are thoroughly aware of the Employer Safety regulations.
To achieve the above the following shall also be ensured:

 Work will commence as per safety regulations laid down in the contract specification and
project safety plan
 Proper safety harness to be used and secured, if required.
 Trained and Qualified welders only appointed for welding related works.
 Housekeeping shall be of good standard and all cut pipes and debris shall be removed.
