    Topic: If you were able to travel back to any place and time in history, where and when would

    you choose? Describe what you might experience and why you would choose this particular
    place and time

    If I were bestowed with the ability to time and space travel for once, the town of Avonlea during
    the 1890s would undeniably be my chosen destination. This decision was originally inspired by
    the portrayal of the time in the TV series “Anne with an E," capturing the sheer beauty of rural
    life, picturesque landscapes, and a profound sense of community within the heart of Prince
    Edward Island, Canada.
    In a world propelled towards modern complexities, I find myself relentlessly chasing the tenet of
    simplicity. There is Avonlea, a place represents a stark contrast to the sophisticated nature of the
    modern world, which is also an escape from the difficulties of contemporary life.
    In the 1980s, I would witness a minimalistic way of life, especially in a small coastal town on a
    separated island. Canadian people here engaged in traditional activities like farming, fishing, and
    small-town events on a daily basis, as their main occupations were farmers, fishers, shop
    retailers, and builders. And I am no exception. The dream I have is a to live a life as a country
    student where there was only one school for all age groups and everyone studies the so-called
    “classical subjects”. It’s a dream free of peer pressure, high expectation and competitiveness that
    characterizes the modern educational templates. Most importantly, the absence of modern
    distractions would highlight the value of human connection and genuine interactions. Therefore,
    the sense of community would be strong, with everyone knowing each other and participating in
    local gatherings and celebrations.
    Transported to the 1890s Avonlea, I would not only experience the cobblestone streets of
    Avonlea but also find myself amidst surrounded by green fields, rustic cottages, and the timeless
    beauty of Prince Edward Island. The landscape, unspoiled by modern development, would offer
    a picturesque setting for a journey into the past. Here, forests stood in its most primitive states,
    rivers and ponds were crystal clears, with a range of high and low mountains harmonized by a
    touch of cool ocean breezes and the sound of different wildlife. Seasons here are painted by the
    true color of grass in springs, the most translucent skies in summers, the golden leaves of falls
    and the whitest snow of winter. Everything altogether create an ethereal masterpiece – a living
    canvas of nature where I can find true peace, pristine Earth and wonder among the grass, the
    trees from dusk till dawn.
    Rural life versus urban life, the simplicity versus the hustling and the contrasting livelihood,
    Avonlea and my city are two oceans apart, despite both being coastal areas. This even more
    enhances the difference between a place of rich nature life and a place of modern movements. I
    can envision a tapestry of experiences that blend the simplicity of a bygone era with the rustic
    charm of a small rural community. This particular place and time, steeped in history was
    beckoned with promises of a bizarre existence and a more authentic way of life.
