    A fact is something that is objective and is either known to be true or can be proven as
    correct. In contrast, an opinion is subjective and based upon personal judgement.
    1. Independently, read the statements below and label each one as either ‘fact’ or ‘opinion’
    in the blank space provided. (5 minutes)

    Social media connects people from all over the world.

    Advanced technology is especially useful in the healthcare


    industry.

    Group work in school has many benefits.

    Elephant tusks are useful for defending themselves in a fight


    and digging up roots.

    Fast food is far more delicious than homemade.

    All animals should be released back into the wild.

    The media plays an important role in shaping public opinion.

    User data collected by social media companies is sometimes


    misused by third parties.

    Media can be used to inform, persuade and even entertain.

    Pets such as cats and dogs require access to food, water,


    exercise and healthcare.

    Artificial intelligence (AI) can make certain tasks easier for


    humans.

    There are eight planets in our solar system.

    Artificial intelligence (AI) is fine to use and doesn’t present any


    ethical issues if only used for fun.

    Drinking coffee is the healthiest and most effective way to stay


    awake during the day.

    Everyone should have a Social Media profile.
